Why Bet The San Francisco 49ers To Beat The 49ers

HC Chip Kelly is off to a better start in San Francisco than he did in the City of Brotherly Love. A lot of his success is due to QB Blaine Bland Gabbert who is completing 54.9 percent of his passes for 413 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Gabbert has thrown at least one touchdown pass in his last 12 games. Jeremy Kerley and Vance McDonald have combined for 179 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Quinton Patton has eight receptions.

Last season the 49ers were manhandled by the Seahawks, losing both matchups by a combined score of 49-16. And while 49ers coach Chip Kelly’s scheme is new to San Francisco, the Seahawks showed they can handle the up-tempo style in a 24-14 victory at Philadelphia in 2014.

“Yeah, we have looked at it, but I don’t know how relevant it is,” Kelly said. “It’s obviously different personnel here, different scheme here in terms of who we are. There’s a lot of the same faces there which is one of the reasons they’re such a good defense. But we look at everything. So we’ve probably got 10 or 15 games that we looked at in terms of preparing for Seattle. But I don’t know how relevant that matchup was in terms of what we’re going to do on Sunday.”

The San Francisco 49ers ground game is averaging 107.5 yards per contest, and Carlos Hyde leads the way with 122 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, San Francisco is allowing 23 points and 357 yards per game.

On defense, NaVorro Bowman leads the 49ers with 20 tackles, Gerald Hodges has one sack and Antoine Bethea has one interception.

Why Bet The Seattle Seahawks To Beat The 49ers Odds

The Seahawks own 49ers. They have won seven of the last ten games, including seven of the last eight. To make it even more impressive, Seattle has covered the spread in the past ten games of the series. But how will they rebound to the brutal loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams last week?

“The other side of this is, everybody in our division is 1-1, there’s two teams in the NFC that are 2-0,” Carroll added. “So it’s really, who’s going to start over well? We need to restart here and see if we can take advantage and get going and find our way a little bit. We’ll see how we do that, it’s a big challenge for us.

Seattle has struggled on offense. Nobody can deny that. Russell Wilson is completing 62.8 percent of his passes for 512 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Wilson has 14 touchdown passes in his last six regular season games. Tyler Lockett and Doug Baldwin have combined for 228 receiving yards and one touchdown while Jermaine Kearse has seven receptions.

Without Marshawn Lynch, the Seattle Seahawks ground game is averaging 89.5 yards per contest. Rusher Thomas Rawls has stalled out of the gate after breaking his leg late last season and twisted his knee last week. Backup RB Christine Michael leads the way with 126 yards on 25 carries.

Defensively, Seattle is allowing 9.5 points and 248.5 yards per game. K.J. Wright leads the Seahawks with 20 tackles, Michael Bennett has two sacks and DeShawn Shead has two pass deflections.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

Russell Wilson’s ankle injury will determine the victor in this game. If he can’t move around as he is famous for then the 49ers have a shot but San Fran enters this big matchup losing 10 of their last 11 regular season road games.

My final score prediction is San Francisco 13, Seattle 17.
