NFL Expert Picks Preseason Week 2

Seahawks Vs Falcons Odds & Betting Predictions

The high-flying Atlanta Falcons and hard-hitting Seattle Seahawks will face off for the second time in their playoff histories. That time Matt Ryan ended the game with one TD more than Russell Wilson.

That divisional playoff game was also at the Georgia Dome during the 2012 season. How much of that game will carry over this weekend?

That playoff game is the only victory in five postseason attempts for Ryan. Wilson, who was a rookie the first time, has an 8-3 postseason mark and a Super Bowl ring to his credit.

Fast-forward to this season. The Seahawks pulled out a wild 26-24 win over the Falcons in Seattle during their Week 6 tilt. Now they face-off in the playoffs. The NFL Divisional Round playoff Seattle Vs Atlanta betting spread favors the Falcons by 4.5-points. Kick-off is this Saturday, January 14th at 4:35 PM ET on FOX from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

Why Bet The Seattle Seahawks To Beat The Falcons

The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a comfortable 26-6 win over the Lions in their Wild Card game last week. Add up their regular season and playoff records and they are 11-5-1 SU and 8-8-1 ATS. They average 22.0 points per game (18th) and allow 18.3 (3rd).

"This felt like old times. This felt great," Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman said.

The Seahawks average 257.8 passing yards per game (10th). QB Russell Wilson (4219 yards, 21 TDs & 11 INTs) had a good game against Detroit. Wilson completed 23 of 30 passes for 224 yards, and two touchdowns. Wilson improved to 8-3 in the playoffs. WR Doug Baldwin (94 rec, 1128 yards, 7 TDs) led the way last week with 11 receptions, 104 yards and one touchdown.

But it was RB Thomas Rawls (109 car, 349 yards, 3 TDs) who was the hum in the Seahawks engine last week. He had 27 carries for 161 yards and one touchdown. Rawls, the replacement for the retired Marshawn Lynch, was out with a fracture in his leg when the Seahawks played the Falcons during the regular season.

"We just haven’t been able to get him enough opportunities," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "He just had a hard time getting rolling."

The Seahawks average 99.4 rushing yards per game (25th).

Seattle has the 5th best total defense in the NFL. They allow 226.0 passing yards per game (8th) and 92.9 rushing yards per game (7th). The Seahawks recorded 42 sacks this season (3rd). They sacked Lions QB Matthew Stafford three times last week. LB Bobby Wagner led the team with 167 tackles during the regular season, and DE Cliff Avril had 11.5 sacks.

Why Bet The Atlanta Falcons To Beat The Seahawks

The Atlanta Falcons enjoyed a week off as a reward for finishing the season as the second seed in the NFC with an 11-5 SU record and 10-6 ATS. They average 33.8 points per game (1st) and 120.5 rushing yards per game (5th).

The Falcons average 295.3 passing yards per game (3rd). First team pro-bowler, QB Matt Ryan (4944 yards, 38 TDs & 7 INTs) has gone 137 passes without an interception, had 19 touchdowns passes to four picks at home during the regular season. Ryan hasn’t been great in the playoffs, though. He’s 1-4 with 9 TDs & 7 INTs. After missing the playoffs the past three seasons, Ryan gets a chance to show that he can win more than once in the postseason.

“I think Matt has had an incredible year. I think he is as deserving as anybody. He’s got that team playing well," Patriots QB Tom Brady said about Matt Ryan when asked about who deserves the MVP award.

WR Julio Jones (83 rec, 1409 yards, 6 TDs) has only caught one touchdown in the last seven games. He finished the season second in the NFL in yards receiving despite missing two games with a toe injury. He should be the healthiest he’s been in a while after the extra rest.

Atlanta averages 120.5 rushing yards per game (5th). RB Devonta Freeman (227 car, 1079 yards, 11 TDs) and RB Tevin Coleman (118 car, 520 yards, 8 TDs) combined for 19 of the 20 rushing touchdowns on the year.

Atlanta has the 25thoranked total defense in the NFL. They give up 267.0 passing yards per game (28th) and 104.5 rushing yards (17th). The Falcons have recorded 34 sacks this season. LB Deion Jones led the team with 108 tackles, and LB Vic Beasley Jr. led the NFL with 15.5 sacks.

If You Still Can’t Decide Who To Bet On:

  • Seattle is 7-3 SU in its last 10 games
  • Seattle is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
  • Seattle is 2-3-1 SU in its last 6 games on the road
  • Seattle is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games when playing Atlanta
  • Atlanta is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Atlanta is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games

Seahawks Vs Falcons ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction

Looking at this bird vs bird tilt without my neon-green tinted sunglasses, the loss of Seattle safety Earl Thomas will hurt the Seahawks’ this week against the Falcons’ high-powered offense.

The Seahawks won the regular-season meeting 26-24 in Week 6, though they didn’t cover as 7-point home favorites. Can the Falcons overcome a 12-point swing in the point spread from that game to this one?

Half of the public thinks so, the other doesn’t. While the Seahawks have been a public darling for years, the Falcons’ bandwagon bubble grew enormously this year as they went 11-5 SU and 10-6 ATS, and also a league-best 13-2-1 with the over. The over has been bet up by a full field goal.

Wiseguys jumped on Atlanta at -3.5 and -4 but the action is mostly split now.

My final score prediction is Seattle 20, Atlanta 28.
