Both the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers enter their NFC divisional encounter Sunday with payback on their minds.
The visiting Seahawks want payback for a Week 6, 27-23 home loss to the Panthers after normally dominating the series as of late. On the flip side Carolina will look to avenge their loss at the hands of Seattle in their divisional round engagement last year.
The game kicks off on FOX this Sunday, January 17th at 1:05 PM ET from the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

Why Bet The Seattle Seahawks Spread at +2.5 Over The Panthers
The Seahawks are red hot and a dangerous team. Now Beastmode is back. Marshawn Lynch had 54 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries versus the Panthers earlier this season and has never topped 85 yards in seven games against them despite averaging 17.3 carries. Carolina ranked fourth in the league against the run at 88.4 yards per game.

This is a different Seattle team than when they met in Week 6. Thanks to mostly in part to Lynch missing so much time this season, forcing the Seahawks to lean on QB Russell Wilson and the passing game. Russell has played lights out in the second half of the season throwing 25 touchdowns and just one interception in the last eight games. He didn’t have the best of games against the Vikings last week, but he made enough plays in the fourth quarter to help his team leave Minneapolis with a win.
The Seahawks didn’t have Lynch in Minnesota last week versus the Vikings and won on a lucky missed chip shot field goal by Minnesota kicker Blair Walsh.
Don’t forget about Seattle’s D that has allowed a paltry 13.5 points per game in their last eight.
“We realize we’ve got to do this on the road and if we want to do something really special, it’s going to take an incredible run here,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “… We’re going to do everything we can to see if we can slow them down and find a way to move the football against a great football team.”
Why Bet The Carolina Panthers Spread at -2.5 Over The Seahawks
This is Cam Newton’s world and we are just living in it. He will be the MVP of the league.
But the home crowd at Bank of America Stadium could very well be the deciding factor in this matchup, as Carolina was the only team in the league to finish the regular season with an undefeated home record. The Panthers went 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games, with all of the covers decided by eight points or more. Newton had a lot to do with their home success, too, with 20 of his 35 passing touchdowns and six of his 10 running scores happening there.
“After we played them (in Week 6), we said, ‘We’ll see you again in the playoffs,'” cornerback Josh Norman told the team’s official website. “It’s cool. Fate gives you these chances to prove yourself worthy.”

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction:
Don’t read too much into what happened in Minnesota, the Seahawks are peaking at the right time. Playoff experience will be the difference maker in this game. Take the Seahawks to advance over the Carolina Panthers.
My final score prediction is Seahawks 24, Carolina 17.
