Why Bet On Seattle (-3.5) To Beat St. Louis
Can the O-line protect Russell Wilson in Week 1?
Seattle lost a few players on defense, including starting cornerback Byron Maxwell, but the D doesn’t appear to have taken a step back. During the pre-season the Seahawks’ defense was absolutely terrific. This is true even though Seattle lost its defensive coordinator. Dan Quinn decided to become the head coach at Atlanta during the off-season. The Legion of Boom impressed during the pre-season. After the first pre-season game where they gave up 22 points to Denver, Seattle’s D locked down Kansas City’s offense in the second pre-season game. KC scored only 14 points. The Chiefs racked up 98 rushing yards and 140 passing yards.
In this battle versus NFC West rival St. Louis, the Legion of Boom could have a field day. Rams’ first-round draft pick, RB Todd Gurley, won’t play, leaving the starting rusher’s duties to incumbent Tre Mason. Whoever does play RB, his quarterback will be Nick Foles. Nick Foles played with Philadelphia last season. Who knows how much of the playbook he actually learned in his short time at St. Louis?

Seattle’s defense looks like it has the advantage over St. Louis’ offense. If the Legion of Boom comes to play, Seattle has a great shot at beating St. Louis.
Why Bet On St. Louis To Beat Seattle (-3.5)
St. Louis’ defensive line can exploit issues with Seattle’s offensive line.
Seattle’s biggest issue this season could have something to do with its offensive line. In acquiring TE Jimmy Graham from the New Orleans Saints, the Seahawks sent their center, Max Unger, to the Big Easy. Unger is one of the best centers in the league. He took care of the O-Line changes while at Seattle.

During the pre-season it was apparent that the Seahawks were having issues with their offensive line. Nobody knows for sure if the offensive line issues have been solved in Seattle. In fact, just about a week ago, the Seahawks cut C Lemuel Jeanpierre. Jeanpierre is still listed as being number one on the Seahawks depth chart to play center at the time of this writing.
Things wouldn’t be so bad for Seattle’s offensive line if they didn’t take on one of the better defenses in football in Week 1. The Rams’ D is supposed to be one of the best in the NFL this season. Some football analysts are saying it is the best defense in the league.
I am picking the St. Louis Rams to upset the Seattle Seahawks in NFL Week 1 betting action. My final score predictions is St. Louis 24, Seattle 14.
