Dallas struggled their way to an impressive 34 to 31 victory against St. Louis. They spotted the Midwestern club 21 points before storming back in the second half. For New Orleans, a ho-hum 20 to 9 victory over Minnesota didn’t quiet any of their critics. The two teams meet in Arlington for what should be a tense, high-scoring battle.
Sunday Night Football Betting Odds and Predictions Analysis:
Road favorites haven’t done very well so far in this NFL Season. New Orleans is a road favorite in this contest and it’s likely that the betting line makes them a bigger favorite than most football handicappers might expect them to be once they kick this one off on Sunday night.
In addition to the Saints’ reputation of having a blisteringly good offense, one that they deserve since New Orleans average over 400 yards and 26 points a game, is the reputation that the Dallas coaches simply cannot outcoach Sean Payton and Rob Ryan. Payton has done a marvelous job in his tenure at New Orleans, but Ryan so far this season has not impressed. The defensive unit has been plagued with lackluster play from almost every position on the field.

Tony Romo and Co. should have a field day against the Saints’ D, making over the total a foregone conclusion even though the trends point to this game possibly going under. The under is 6 and 2 in the Saints last 8 road games, 6 and 0 in the Saints last 6 versus a team with a winning record and 4 and 0 in the Saints’ last 4 games following an ATS win. The over is 5 and 1 in the Cowboys’ last 6 games following a straight up victory. The over is also 4 and 1 in the last 5 head to head matchups between these two. Dallas has no choice but to try and outscore New Orleans because their defense might be worse than the Saints’.
When it comes to against spread betting, New Orleans appears to have the upper hand. The Saints are 7 and 2 ATS in the last 9 meetings between these two teams. They’re also 4 and 1 ATS in their last 4 games on field turf and 23 and 11 ATS versus a team with a winning record.

The game will be played on the field and this one sets up for New Orleans to possibly pound the Cowboys in the running game. Both teams have a very good rush, but the Saints have a slightly better defense against the rush. That, along with Payton in their corner, the strong trends, and a man named Brees throwing the pigskin for them should give New Orleans the cover victory.
