NFL Week 1 Spread Pittsburgh Steelers Vs Cleveland Browns

Pittsburgh Steelers Vs Cleveland Browns
When: Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio
TV: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Spread: Pittsburgh -9
Total: 47

Why Bet the Pittsburgh Steelers Spread At -9

Pittsburgh went 3-1 in the preseason by beating the Giants, Falcons, and Panthers in Weeks 1, 2 and 4 while losing to Indianapolis in Week 3. Pittsburgh ranked an identical 10th in scoring (24.9 ppg) and points allowed (20.4 ppg) and are looking for nothing less than a Super Bowl appearance heading into the 2017 campaign.

To address their needs, the Steelers added defensive end Tyson Alualu, cornerback Coty Sensabaugh and wide receiver Justin Hunter in free agency while drafting linebacker T.J. Watt in the first round, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster in the second round, running back James Conner and cornerback Cameron Sutton, both in the third round. Pittsburgh parted ways with veteran linebacker Lawrence Timmons and running backs DeAngelo Williams and Karlos Williams.

Why Bet the Cleveland Browns Spread At +9

Cleveland went a perfect 4-0 in the preseason by beating the saints, Giants, Buccaneers and Bears and enter the 2017 regular season with some renewed hops after naming rookie DeShone Kizer their starting quarterback and adding gifted youngsters like defensive end Myles Garrett, safety Jabrill Peppers and tight end David Njoku while adding veteran wideout Kenny Britt, center JC Tretter and guard Kevin Zeitler in free agency.

Cleveland parted ways with quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor among others. The Browns are looking for significant improvements on both sides of the ball after finishing 2016 ranked a dismal 31st in scoring (16.5 ppg) and equally discouraging 30th in points allowed (28.3 ppg).

NFL Week 1 Pick Pittsburgh Steelers Vs Cleveland Browns

The Steelers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall while the Browns are just 1-8 ATS in their last 9 home games and a winless 0-10-1 ATS in their last 11 games against their AFC North division rivals.

Nevertheless, after seeing how the browns played inspired football in the preseason, I’m going with Cleveland and the nine points to at least cover the spread. DeShone Kizer is an athletic quarterback that is also pretty poised for such a young quarterback and I believe Cleveland’s series of smart offseason moves will be rewarded this coming season, starting with an ATS cover in their opener.

Pick: Cleveland +9
