Sunday Night Football Betting – New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins

To say that Washington and Robert Griffin III are limping in to their Sunday Night Football betting matchup against the Giants would be an understatement. It doesn’t help that Shanahan doesn’t seem to have any regard for his players either. “Everybody is playing for their jobs,” he said recently and while that’s true, part of his job is to keep his players safe. Obviously you want to continue RG3’s development, but he’s getting destroyed out there physically. Eventually that will wear down his mental toughness. A person can only take so much, even a warrior like Griffin.

The Redskins are just 1-4 SU and ATS in their last 5 games and haven’t been galvanized by all the chatter surrounding the team as many expected they would. People can point the finger at the coach or the quarterback and blame whomever they want. Gamblers tend to drift away from drama or ignore it completely. What concerns us more is that Washington has a horrifying -10.4 point differential during their last 5 games and the defense can’t appear to stop anyone. They’ve allowed at least 24 points in each of those games as well, and the offense hasn’t done much on a consistent basis.

The Giants saw their four game winning streak in the dying seconds of last weekend’s game against Dallas, dropping them to a respectable 4-2 SU and ATS in their last 6 games. For all intents and purposes, the Giants have had just as many problems with blitzes from opponents and the media, but they are a much tighter group. They know how to weather the storm.

So it’s easy to believe that they’ll survive the harrowing loss they suffered against Romo’s Cowboys this past Sunday. However, it’s important to remember that the Giants have gone just 0-5 ATS when playing Washington in recent meetings. With such a tight spread on this game, what might be more vital in the head-to-head stats is Coughlin’s 7-3 SU record when playing against Washington. The Giants don’t always cover, but they tend to win more often than not.

Stability and instability aside, the Giants are simply a better football team to bet compared to their opponents this Sunday. Eli Manning hasn’t been a superhero, but the team has been reasonably efficient overall. They’re cutting down on their mistakes and grinding out ugly wins. It doesn’t get much uglier than the grim situation in Washington, and if the Redskins thought getting embarrassed by a playoff contender last Monday was bad, just wait until they get rolled by a division rival in Sunday Night Football betting.
