Titans Vs Falcons Preseason Week 1 Betting Line, Free Pick & How To Watch

The 3-point favorite Atlanta Falcons host the Tennessee Titans on Friday night for their first 2015 preseason matchup. The game tips off at 7:00PM ET from the Georgia Dome.

All eyes in this game will be on Titans’ rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota in his unofficial NFL debut. His parents are making the trip from Hawaii to Georgia to see their son play. The game will be beamed back to Mariota’s home state. Turn on the game early. Mariota and the first team offense are likely to play only a series or two. After showing Mariota what he may be in store for the Titans will switch to Zach Mettenberger, Charlie Whitehurst & Alex Tanney. The Titans brain-trust will be eager to see their development.

The Falcons won’t to showcase their new backfield due to injuries to Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. They will debut rookie pass-rusher Vic Beasley out of Clemson.

With encouraging reports out of Titans camp, the Mariota-era will begin unofficially this Friday. Mariota was drafted second overall in the 2015 NFL draft after Mettenberger (1412 yards, 8 TDs & 7 INTs) failed to impress last season. The Titans are loaded with young talent including rookie running back David Cobb and wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.

“The mental part of it – the technique part of it – is a lot different (than college) because you’re dealing with a lot of cross protections and adjustment protections, things that you didn’t necessarily see from the college perspective,” Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt described Mariota’s progress to the Tennessean . “It’s a little more complex at this level.”

Defensively, the Titans have no where to go but up after last season’s debacle and their offseason harvest. They added Brian Orakpo and Perrish Cox. The addition of ex Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau will also add a swagger that this D has been missing.

The Atlanta Falcons are loaded with talent at offense, but have underwhelmed in recent seasons. QB Matt Ryan (4694 yards, 28 TDs & 14 INTs) will be chucking the ball to Julio Jones (1593 yards & 6 TDs) and Roddy White (921 yards & 7 TDs) again. Can new head-coach Dan Quinn and new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan bring back the magic on the scoreboard for the Falcons?

Running backs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman have sidelined with hamstring injuries all week and will not play. The rushing duties will be handed off to  Antone Smith, Terron Ward and Jerome Smith.
