Top ATS Picks for the 2016 NFL SeasonJosh Bailey
Early NFL betting point spreads for the 2016 NFL season are out. I have done the hard word and selected one must bet ATS NFL game per week for the entire season. Happy Hunting NFL fans!!!
The Top NFL ATS Betting Picks Per Week For The Entire 2016 NFL Season
- Week 1 – Chicago Bears at Houston Texans (-5)
The Texans upgraded their offense big time during free agency. The fact that their defense is still one of the top units in the NFL means that they should handle the Bears by at least 5 points in Week 1.
- Week 2 – New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (-2)
The Jets are expected to resign QB Ryan Fitzpatrick while the Bills may start the season with a rookie QB if the bad blood between Tyrod Taylor and Buffalo doesn’t subside. I like NYJ in this matchup.
- Week 3 – Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars (Pick)
Baltimore is the team that everyone is pegging as a possible Super Bowl pick this season. I’m not so sure. To me, the Jaguars look like they’re going to take a huge leap in the AFC. I think Jacksonville wins it.
- Week 4 – Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots (-7)
The Patriots own the Bills ATS. They have for some time. Buffalo is a mess. Sammy Watkins has been skipping workouts, the Taylor situation doesn’t seem to be getting any better, and Rex Ryan lost control of the team late last season. Patriots roll.
- Week 5 – Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins (-5.5)
Miami shouldn’t be favored by anywhere close to 5.5 points against Tennessee. The Titans have a ton of draft picks going into this Thursday’s NFL Draft. They also upgraded at RB and Marcus Mariota has a year of pro football experience under him. Tennessee is the play.
- Week 6 – Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers (-6)
Week 6 was tough to find a solid ATS wager. I think that Dallas is the play unless Tony Romo is hurt. The Cowboys always play the Packers tough in Green Bay.
- Week 7 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49’ers (Pick)
Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers should roll over San Francisco. The 49’es do have 12 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. Still, I like how Winston has developed and SF will need all 12 of their picks to play well in order to compete in 2016.
- Week 8 – New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (+3)
The Patriots will squash the Bills by more than 3 points in Week 8. There’s just no way to get around it.
- Week 9 – New Orleans Saints at San Francisco 49’ers (Pick)
Week 9 turned out to be almost as tough as Week 6. I do feel that the 49’ers will have a shot to win in Week 9. But, New Orleans’ defense can’t be worse this season than it was last season. No, really, based on rankings, it can’t. That gives this game to the Saints.
- Week 10 – Miami Dolphins at San Diego Chargers (-1)
San Diego favored by only a point over the aging Miami Dolphins? This is a no-brainer to me. Phillip Rivers and the Bolts, especially if they draft OT Laremy Tunsil or CB Jalen Ramsey on Thursday night, easily take it.
- Week 11 – Jacksonville Jaguars at Detroit Lions (-3)
Detroit favored by 3 over a much improved Jacksonville team while Calvin Johnson watches from home? Give me a break. Jags roll.
- Week 12 – Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos (-3)
Week 12 might have been the toughest week for me to handicap. I feel that Kansas City is a more complete team now that Denver is down to Mark Sanchez at QB, lost Malik Jackson and Danny Trevathan on defense, and might not be as hungry this year as last year. I’m with KC.
- Week 13 – Houston Texans at Green Bay Packers (-7)
I like Green Bay. The offense should be terrific and if they draft a good nose tackle, the defense will be better than it was last season. But, Houston is stacked. They’re a WR2 away from competing to win the AFC. I think Houston can win this straight up.
- Week 14 – New York Jets at San Francisco 49’ers (Pick)
Here we go again with the 49’ers being a pick at home against a superior team. Even without Fitz, the Jets should crush San Francisco in Week 14.
- Week 15 – Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills (-9)
Seeing the pattern? I’m down on teams like Buffalo, Miami, San Francisco, teams that make bad choices. This might be Cleveland’s only win during the season. Why? Because by Week 15 the Bills will have no chance of making the playoffs. So, they’ll give up on Rex just like they did last season.
- Week 16 – Indianapolis Colts at Oakland Raiders (-1)
The Colts still don’t have an offensive line that can protect Andrew Luck. Unless something crazy happens this Thursday, they won’t end up drafting one of the Top 4 offensive linemen available. Oakland has a good enough team to make the playoffs in 2016. Raiders rule in this matchup.
