Top NFL Games You Need To Bet On In 2014Noah Williams
Whenever the schedule is released, I can’t help but read the whole damn thing and figure out the top NFL games you need to bet on in 2014. Here’s some calendar stuffers for the upcoming season. Is it September yet?!?!
The Top NFL Games You Need To Bet On In 2014
WEEK 1 – Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos
Because I don’t need to explain this?
WEEK 2 – Kansas City at Denver Broncos
There’s a huge part of me that feels like the Chiefs are in for a bad year. They feel like the Nobody Saw Us Coming Last Year But Everyone Will See Us Coming This Year team in 2014. Honestly, I’m not going to care if the Broncos are favored by twelve points here. I’m probably going to slap a huge play on this one for the home bound Broncos as they wallop their biggest, division rival.
WEEK 3 – Denver Broncos at Seattle Seahawks
This is also the week that DeSean Jackson returns to Philadelphia as a member of the Redskins, but there’s no way that game overshadows a Super Bowl rematch. I mean, this seems like cruel and unusual punishment on Peyton Manning. Not only did he get his butt whooped by the Seahawks in one of the most important games of his career, now he has to go play in the hostile territory that is Qwest Field in front of Seattle’s insane fan base. That being said, the reason this makes the list of NFL games you need to be on in 2014 is that revenge is a dish best served when you can stick it to the infuriating 12th man at the same time.
WEEK 4 – Carolina Panthers at Baltimore Ravens
The "Steve Smith You Shoulda Put A Ring On It Game". Enough said? Enough said.
WEEK 5 – Seattle Seahawks at Washington Redskins
There is no better way for Washington to announce its return to the NFC contender’s ring than by beating Seattle at FedEX Field. The Seahawks are a notoriously troublesome road bet, and Washington has a new coach and a few more weapons than they did last year. Robert Griffin III has a ton to prove this year, and doing so against the team that last knocked him out of the playoffs makes this one of the top NFL games you need to bet on in 2014 without a doubt.
WEEK 6 – Carolina Panthers at Cincinnati Bengals
Both teams went through pretty massive overhauls in the off-season. This could be a make-or-break game for both clubs. Cam Newton has lost almost his entire receiving crew, and Andy Dalton will be without Jay Gruden as his offensive coordinator. How much of a difference will that make? We’ll know by Week 6.
WEEK 7 – New York Jets at New England Patriots
The schedule makers are really trying to pour it on with these Thursday Night games and a game that pits the new-look Jets clashing with the Patriots is always going to catch our attention. Will Mike Vick be the quarterback for Rex Ryan by then? Are Eric Decker and Chris Johnson going to be the difference makers? Will the Jets be able to keep up with Brady in the AFC East?
WEEK 8 – Green Bay Packers at New Orleans Saints
Aaron Rodgers against Drew Brees. If I need to explain this to you, then just email me your home address so I can come over and slap you in the face.
WEEK 9 – Denver Broncos at New England Patriots
It could be Brady vs. Manning 2025 when both guys are geriatrics and I would still bet on it.
WEEK 10 – San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans Saints
You could make a list of top NFL games you need to bet on in 2014 just by focusing on Week 10. You have Niners-Saints, Giants-Seahawks, Bears-Packers, Jets-Steelers, Bucs-Falcons, Rams-Cardinals and Panthers-Eagles on Monday Night. I’m cancelling my entire life that weekend to watch football.
WEEK 11 – New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts
You can pretty much assume that when two of the best quarterbacks in the league face off against each other, it’s going to be one of the top NFL games you need to bet on in 2014. Andrew Luck. Tom Brady. Enjoy.
WEEK 12 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Chicago Bears
The Josh McCown versus Jay Cutler matchup that nobody cares to see! This will also be Lovie Smith’s first game against his former team, and if anyone knows how to expose Cutler, it’s his former coach. By this point in the season we’ll know if Tampa and Chicago are real contenders and this game could have serious playoff implications on either side. That’s why this is one of the top NFL games you need to bet on in 2014. Keep it earmarked.
WEEK 13 – THANKSGIVING DAY GAMES
Chicago at Detroit? Philadelphia at Dallas? Seattle at San Francisco?!?!?!? DID I FIND A GENIE WHEN I WAS DRUNK AND FORGET I MADE THESE WISHES?!
WEEK 14 – Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers
There’s a big part of me that thinks Atlanta is the Comeback Team of 2014. We’ll know well before Week 14 if they’re any good this season.
WEEK 15 – San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
A late season matchup between the two teams that form the best rivalry in NFL right now? Thank you!
WEEK 16 – SATURDAY GAMES
Even my best models can’t predict what the playoff picture will remotely be by the time Week 16 rolls around. What I do know is that the Saturday pair of games featuring the Chargers-Niners and Eagles-Redskins are going to be division deciding matchups. That’s why both round out the schedule of my top NFL games you need to bet on in 2014.
