Updated Super Bowl 50 Over/Under PickNoah Williams
The Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers are less than a week away from Super Bowl 50. Kick-off is scheduled for this Sunday, February 7th on CBS at 6:30 PM ET from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
It will come to no one’s surprise that nearly 80 percent of the public Super Bowl 50 betting bucks are currently on the Panthers when it comes to against-the-spread bets. Most sportsbooks detailed a huge initial rush of money on the Broncos when the line opened with the Panthers as 5.5-point favorites, causing the number to head back down, as low as 3.5 points. Since then the spread has ballooned to 6-points.
A Closer Look At The Super Bowl 50 Over/Under Odds
When it comes to the game total for over/under bets, it opened at 45.5 and has only dipped by 1/2 a point since then. It seems that the public betting bucks are about evenly matched on the game going over and under the total.

Bet The Super Bowl 50 Over 45 Because…
Carolina’s defense isn’t as shut down as so many have made it out to be. The stats look great for the Panthers’ D. Carolina allows an average of 19.2 points per game. They give up 88.4 yards per game via the rush and 234.5 yards per game via the pass. But, the Panthers defense has allowed very good quarterbacks to tear it up. Russell Wilson threw for 366 yards and tossed 3 touchdown passes in Carolina’s 31 to 24 win over Seattle in the NFC Divisional Round. Earlier in the season, Aaron Rodgers passed for 369 yards and threw 4 touchdown passes against the Panthers’ defense. If Peyton Manning is on his game this Sunday, Denver could help Super Bowl 50 go over the total.
Bet The Super Bowl 50 Under 45 Because…
Denver’s defense is the best in the NFL. Carolina has a terrific offense. It averages over 31 points per game. That’s tops in the NFL. But the Panthers haven’t faced a defense this good all season long. The Broncos shut down Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship to only 18 points. The Broncos shut down Big Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers to only 16 points in Denver’s 23 to 16 win in the Divisional Round.
Expert Over/Under Pick for Super Bowl 50
Carolina’s offense will move the football against Denver’s defense. But so did Pittsburgh’s and New England’s offenses. Denver has the type of defense that can cause fits for QB Cam Newton. Their edge rushers will get in Newton’s face. When the likely NFL MVP steps up into the pocket to either throw the football or run, he’ll likely have to deal with Denver’s very good linebackers or their terrific safeties.
Denver’s offense is most likely going to try and control the clock with short passes and running plays. All of this should lead to an under game. I like under the total of 45.
