Updated Super Bowl 51 Odds & PicksNoah Williams
No Tom Brady. No problem!
That’s the message oddsmakers are sending out after installing the perennially powerful Pats as the NFL odds-on-favorite to win Super Bowl 51 despite the fact that future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady will miss the first four games of the season.
Will the Pats bag the Super Bowl 51 title after opening the season as the favorites? Are the Pats the ‘smart’ pick or will a longshot rise up to upset the entire apple cart?
Let’s find out right now!

The Favorite to Win Super Bowl 51: New England Patriots 6/1
The are plenty of good reasons to bet on New England to win Super Bowl 51 like the fact that New England will likely be extremely focused from Week 5 on after Brady comes back from his four-game suspension.
The Pats (13-5 SU, 8-7-3 ATS) are a likely shoo-in to win the AFC East (again) and could very well earn a wild card bye, giving them an extra week of rest come playoff time.
Last but not least, no matter which teams New England plays in the postseason, Tom Brady will likely have the edge at quarterback and similarly, Bill Belichick at head coach. Maybe it’s me, but there just aren’t many quarterback-head coach combinations I’d take over the pair – and that’s reason enough to bet on the Pats to win Super Bowl 51.
The Smart Bet to Win Super Bowl 51: Seattle Seahawks 8/1
There are several good reasons to bet on Seattle (11-7 SU, 8-9-1 ATS) to win Super Bowl 51 like the fact that quarterback Russell Wilson is about as elite as it gets at the quarterback position these days.
Seattle’s league-leading defense is another great reason to bet on the Seahawks to win Super Bowl 51, not to mention the team’s overall cohesion and ability to reload on the fly.
With other elite teams like Carolina, Green Bay and Arizona, the Seahawks are definitely in a tougher race to reach Super Bowl 51 in the NFC than New England is in the AFC, but I like Seattle’s hunger after failing to win the NFC West or reach Super Bowl 50.
The Longshot to Win Super Bowl 51: Kansas City Chiefs 20/1
I love Kansas City’s chances of representing the AFC in Super Bowl 51 s much as I like anyone’s. The Chiefs are a perennial double-digit winning team and have an excellent head coach in Andy Reid. I know quarterback Alex Smith doesn’t have the strongest arm and can’t make some of the throws that other quarterbacks routinely make, but he’s also the game’s best signal-caller when it comes to not turning the ball over and that can be a huge asset in the playoffs.
I like Kansas City’s skill position players like Jeremy Maclin and Travis Kelcee, not to mention the Chiefs’ totally underrated defense.
The Chiefs may not be the favorite or smart pick, but they’re a great long shot pick and that is a great reason to pick K.C. to win Super Bowl 51.
Odds as of Sept. 5.
