NFL Upset Picks Preseason Week 2Josh Bailey
NFL Preseason is always ripe for upsets. Week 2 this NFL Preseason is no different. Will Buffalo shut down Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field? Is Indianapolis set to beat Dallas on the road? How will New Orleans handle playing the Chargers at the soccer stadium in Carson, California? Check out my upset picks for NFL Preseason Week 2!
NFL Preseason Week 2 Upset Picks
Buffalo at Philadelphia
When: Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
Odds: Buffalo +2
Analysis: Buffalo’s 10 to 17 loss to Minnesota in NFL Preseason Week 1 wasn’t all bad. The Bills did rush for 127 yards from 24 carries. The Bills defense also held the Vikings to only 90 yards rushing from 29 carries.
The Eagles 9 to 24 loss to Green Bay in preseason Week 1 is meaningless. Philly only played Carson Wentz for a single series. Even if Philly plays Wentz more in this game, I like the Bills to win straight up.
Buffalo has a deeper football team than many realize. The Bills should win the game on Thursday.
Pick: Buffalo money line
Indianapolis at Dallas
When: Saturday, Aug. 19 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
TV: NFL Net
Odds: Indianapolis +2.5
Analysis: The Colts didn’t play well at all in a 10 to 24 loss to the Detroit Lions in their Week 1 battle. Indy will look to turn things around against the Dallas Cowboys in NFL Preseason Week 2.
The Cowboys also lost their first game. I don’t expect Indy to destroy Dallas. But, since the Cowboys figure to be the favorites before kick-off, Indianapolis is the play. Neither team is going to risk injury to their starters.
The Colts appear deeper in most skill positions than the Cowboys. I think Indianapolis finds a way to get the W.
Pick: Indianapolis money line
New Orleans at L.A. Chargers
When: Sunday, Aug. 20 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: StubHub Center, Carson, CA
TV: NFL Net
Odds: New Orleans +3
Analysis: The Saints lost 14 to 20 to the Cleveland Browns in their first game of the NFL Preseason. New Orleans played well in the loss. Rookie RB Alvin Kamara rushed for 35 yards on 4 carries. QB Garrett Grayson went 11 for 16 for 126 yards. Ryan Nassib went 10 for 14 for 110 yards. Nassib also threw a TD pass.
Since it’s only the second game of the NFL Preseason, the Saints won’t play either one of their starting RBs, Mark Ingram or Adrian Peterson. Drew Brees is also expected to sit on the bench. It shouldn’t matter. The Saints appears to have great depth on offense.
That should be enough for New Orleans to beat the Chargers straight up as a slight underdog.
Pick: New Orleans money line
