Week 9 NFL Upset Picks

My Week 9 NFL Upset picks can win you big this week. Can Pittsburgh take it to Baltimore as a dog in Week 9? How will Los Angeles handle the desperate Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 6? What’s going to happen when Buffalo and Seattle throw down in the Great Northwest this Sunday?

Pittsburgh at Baltimore
When:  Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: M&T Bank Stadium
TV: CBS
Odds: Pittsburgh +3

Analysis: The Steelers have lost 2 games in a row. But Pitt goes to M&T Bank Stadium off their bye. Pittsburgh is a much better team than the 2 losses imply. The 15 to 30 loss to Miami on Oct. 16 happened with Ben Roethlisberger getting hurt. The 16 to 27 loss to New England a week later was to be expected.

Pittsburgh got a whole week to figure out how to beat the rival Baltimore Ravens. Big Ben could be back later this month. I think that QB Landry Jones, WR Antonio Brown and RB Le’Veon Bell hold the fort down for Ben while he recovers.

Pittsburgh has a great shot at winning this game straight up.

Week 9 NFL Upset Pick: Pittsburgh

Carolina at Los Angeles
When: Sunday, Nov. 6 at 4:05 pm ET
Where: L.A. Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA
TV: FOX
Odds: Los Angeles +3

Analysis: L.A. got a chance to rest up in Week 8. They, like Pittsburgh, go into Week 9 off their bye. They battle a team that they could have a lot of success against this Sunday.

Carolina rushed out to a 24 to 0 lead over Arizona in Week 8. They had to hold on desperately for a 30 to 24 win. That’s a bad sign going into Los Angles to face a Rams’ team that has a much better offense than anyone gives them credit for having.

L.A. has the skill players in QB Case Keenum and WRs Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt to expose a Carolina defense that allows 286.9 passing yards per game. If the Panthers try to stop the pass, they’ll have to deal with RB Todd Gurley.

Either way, I think the Rams have a huge shot at beating Carolina straight up on Sunday.

Week 9 NFL Upset Pick: Los Angeles

Buffalo at Seattle
When:  Monday, Nov. 7 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: CenturyLink Field, Seattle, WA
TV: ESPN
Odds: Buffalo +7

Analysis: Even New Orleans’ defense, for most of the game at least, got to Seattle QB Russell Wilson. That’s why I must take the 7 points on the Bills in this match up.

The Saints sacked Russell only 1 time in Seattle’s 20 to 25 loss to New Orleans in Week 8. But New Orleans was in Russell’s face all afternoon. Wilson ended up completing 22 of 34 for 253 yards and a pick.

Buffalo’s defense has 26 sacks on the season. That’s tied for first in the NFL with Denver’s defense. Seattle’s offensive line is going to have massive issues in this game. I’m not saying that Buffalo wins straight up.

What I am saying is that neither team is likely to score a lot of points, making the 7 points incredibly important in this battle. I like the Bills against the spread.

Week 9 NFL Upset Pick: Buffalo
