Upset Picks NFL Week 5

With the 2017 NFL regular season already producing a ton of upsets in the first month of the regular season, NFL betting enthusiasts everywhere are looking for more upset value each and every week.

Thanks to my triumvirate of Week 5 upset picks, you’re about to find plenty of the upset value you’re looking for this coming weekend. Now, let’s get started.

Upset Picks NFL Week 5

New England Patriots (2-2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1)
When: Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 8:25 PM ET
Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida
NFL Odds: New England -5.5
Total: 54

Analysis: While Tom Brady and the Patriots look fine on offense as they average a stellar 32.2 points per game to rank second in scoring, something is clearly wrong with New England’s defense, seeing as how they’ve given up an identical 33 points in each of the last two weeks after getting hammered for a whopping 42 points by Kansas City in their opener.

While Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven’t exactly looked like world-beaters in winning two of three to start the season, they are playing solid football on both sides of the ball in ranking 12th in scoring (23.7 ppg) and 17th in points allowed (21.3 ppg).

While the Bucs haven’t beaten the Patriots since 2000, I’m going on record right now to say that I love the value they’re bringing into the Week 5 Inter-conference clash against New England and believe they could very well get the outright win, seeing as how the Pats are giving up points like they’re going out of style.

While New England is a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, Tampa Bay is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games on grass and an encouraging 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. Famous Jameis and the Bucs get it done and no, that’s not a typo!

Upset Pick Week 5: Tampa Bay +5.5

New York Jets (2-2) at Cleveland Browns (0-4)
When: Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio
NFL Odds: Cleveland -2
Total: 39

Analysis: The Jets won their second straight game by getting past Jacksonville 23-20 one week after subduing Miami 20-6 while Cleveland fell to 0-4 on the season by getting beaten in every way in their 31-7 Week 4 loss against AFC North rival Cincinnati.

So why are the Browns a slight home favorite in this one? I have no idea, but I do know that Cleveland isn’t the team to back in Week 5. Rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer has regressed the last couple of weeks and I wouldn’t be surprised to see head coach Hue Jackson go with Kevin Hogan moving forward. Despite ranking a modest 21st in scoring and points allowed, the Jets have been pleasantly surprising and have the best quarterback on the field in this game in veteran Josh McCown.

Keep it simple here people and back the Jets to get it done as a stunning road underdog against a Cleveland team that I keep saying should have drafted former Clemson superstar Deshaun Watson with the first overall pick, duh!

Upset Pick Week 5: NY Jets +2

Buffalo Bills (3-1) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-3)
When: Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio
NFL Odds: Cincinnati -3
Total: 39

Analysis: It’s all fine and well that Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals picked up a nice 31-7 win over the Cleveland Browns, but clearly, the Buffalo Bills are the better team in this matchup seeing as how rank a stupendous first in points allowed (13.5 ppg) and come into this contest off a pair of wins over two straight Super Bowl contenders by taking out Denver 26-26 in Week 4 and stunning Atlanta 23-17 this past Sunday.

Right now, the Bills have the edge at quarterback and head coach, not to mention they’re playing with a ton of confidence. The bottom line is that you should expect Cincy quarterback Andy Dalton to be forced into a horrific interception or two from a Bills defense that is getting it done against both, the pass and run.

The Bills are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win while Cincinnati is just 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record. The Bills get the outright ‘upset’ win, but really, this won’t be an upset at all.

Upset Pick Week 5: Buffalo +3
