Should You Bet On Minnesota To Cover the 1-point Spread Vs The Titans?
Can The Vikings parlay their preseason success into a playoff push?
Too bad NFL Pre-season games don’t count. If the games did count, the Minnesota Vikings would be far and away the top team in the league. They’d also be riding a 9 game winning streak.

Minnesota hasn’t lost an NFL Pre-season game since August 25, 2013. After the loss, Minnesota beat Tennessee 24 to 23 on August 29, 2013. The Vikings beat all 4 of their pre-season opponents in 2014, including spanking Tennessee 19 to 3. The Vikings have won all 4 of their NFL Pre-season games in 2015: 14 to 3 over Pittsburgh in the Hall of Fame Game, 26 to 16 over Tampa Bay and 20 to 12 over Oakland.
Versus Tennessee, since QB Marcus Mariota and the entire offense is likely to sit it out, all Minnesota’s second and third stringers have to do is play with the same grit and heart that they’ve played throughout the last 2 NFL Pre-seasons. If Minnesota’s back-ups do that, the Vikings should have no trouble covering the spread versus a Tennessee team lacking any real depth.
Should You Bet On Tennessee To Cover the 1-point Spread Vs The Vikings?
Will there be a QB conterversy in the Music City?
Mettenberger looked great in the Titans first NFL Pre-season game versus the Atlanta Falcons. Marcus Mariota is the starter. So, Mettenberger didn’t play versus the Falcons’ first team defense, but he did complete 8 out of 11 passes for 129 yards. He threw 1 TD and a pick. It was a nice performance.
Versus St. Louis in Week 2 of the NFL Pre-season, Mettenberger again showed why he could be one of the better back-up QBs in the NFL. He threw for 91 yards when completing 7 out of 9 passes. He also threw a touchdown. What happened versus Kansas City? Mettenberger looked like crap versus the Chiefs when throwing for only 38 yards and completing 3 out of 11 passes.
Mettenberger could very well get cut if he doesn’t show up against Minnesota and have a good game. There is some talent behind Mettenberger for the back-up QB position. If he doesn’t show Ken Wisenhunt that he has the ability to get the job done should Mariota stumble or get injured in the regular season, Wisenhunt might very well hand Mettenberger his walking papers.
The Titans won’t have any shot of covering the spread unless Mettenberger steps up as well. There is a lot on the line for the back-up QB in the final pre-season game.
