The Oakland Raiders and New York Jets will both enter the 2014 NFL regular season looking for fresh starts when the longtime AFC rivals take to the gridiron at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
NFL Week 1 Betting Odds & Predictions – Jets Host Raiders
Preview: New York (8-8 SU, 9-6-1 ATS) lost each of its last two preseason games to go 2-2 SU and 1-3 ATS during the scrimmage period. More importantly, they got spanked pretty solidly in losing to the Giants 35- 24 in their important Week 3 matchup.
The Raiders (4-12 SU,8-8 ATS) went 2-2 SU and 1-3 ATS and played very good football in each of their last three preseason games.

Analysis: After watching both of these teams over the course of the preseason, I’ve got to admit that Oakland actually looks pretty good heading into this matchup while New York seems to have regressed over the last couple of weeks.
I know that teams play a lot of backups in their preseason contests, but I think the fact that New York gave up at least 35 points in each of their last two preseason games doesn’t bode well for the Jets as they get set for this Week 1 pairing.

Oakland, looked solid in losing to Green Bay 31- 21 in Week 3 before putting on a surprising performance in their 41-31 Week 4 win over Seattle. Raiders coach Dennis Allen, perhaps realizing that Schaub, does, in fact, stink, announced this week that he’s hitching his Silver-and-Black wagon to rookie second-round pick Derek Carr’s star.
“I don’t know what to expect,” Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson said of the uncertainty of facing the rookie. “We should be able to handle any quarterback in this league whether he’s a rookie or a 10-year vet. We look at them all the same: Get to him.”
While the majority of the key trends surrounding this matchup point to a Jets ATS cover at the least, I’m going to back Oakland to get the upset road win over the Jets in a high-scoring affair that plays Over the 40-point O/U Total.
Oakland is 1-5 ATS in its last six games and the Jets are 4-1 ATS in its last five games at home.
The Over is 4-1 in Oakland ‘s last five road games and 6-2-1 in the Raider’s last nine games overall.
