NFL Expert Picks Preseason Week 2

NFL Week 14 Lock Picks

My NFL Lock Picks for Week 14 are all about hot teams versus cold teams. The first lock pick occurs in the Detroit at St. Louis matchup. The second lock pick is in the Pittsburgh versus Cincinnati game while the third lock pick has Seattle taking on Carolina. All games take place on Sunday, Dec. 13 and all games are at 1:00 pm ET.

A Closer Look At My NFL Week 14 Lock Picks

What: Detroit Lions (4-8) at St. Louis Rams (4-8)
When: Sunday, December 13, 2015
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Saint Louis, MO
Stadium: Edward Jones Dome
Weather: N/A
Spread: Rams -1
Moneyline: Detroit -105 vs St. Louis -115
Game Total: 40.5
Watch: FOX
Stream: Fox Sports Go
Listen: Detroit vs St. Louis

Analysis: Detroit’s 23 to 27 loss to Green Bay was due to a 61 yard Hail Mary pass from QB Aaron Rodgers to TE Richard Rodgers. If Detroit had defended the Hail Mary pass just a bit better, they would have won their 4th straight game.

Detroit is much improved from the team that started the season 1 and 7 straight up. The defense had the led the way to an 18 to 16 win over Green Bay, an 18 to 13 win over Oakland and a 45 to 14 win over Philadelphia before the Hail Mary pass. The Lions should have no trouble getting back into the win column against St. Louis on Sunday since the Rams average a terrible 15.8 points per game.

Pick: Detroit

What: Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5) at Cincinnati Bengals (10-2)
When: Sunday, December 13, 2015
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Cincinnati, OH
Stadium: Paul Brown Stadium
Weather: 60° F | Light Rain
Spread: Bengals -3
Moneyline: Pittsburgh vs Cincinnati
Game Total: 47
Watch: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Listen: Pittsburgh vs Cincinnati

Analysis: Pittsburgh could be this week’s hot NFL team. The Steelers will be looking for their fourth win in their last 5 games. The Steelers go into their Week 14 matchup after having destroyed the Colts 45 to 10.

But, beating Indianapolis at home doesn’t equate to beating Cincinnati on the road. The Bengals lost two games in a row, 6 to 10 to Houston and 31 to 34 to Arizona, before winning 2 games in a row, 31 to 7 over St. Louis and 37 to 3 over Cleveland. More importantly, the Bengals have an awesome 10-1-1 ATS record. Cincinnati beat Pittsburgh 16 to 10 in Pittsburgh in the first game between these 2. Expect a similar score this time around.

Pick: Cincinnati

What: Seattle Seahawks (7-5) at Baltimore Raves (4-8)
When: Sunday, December 13, 2015
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Baltimore, MD
Stadium: M&T Bank Stadium
Weather: 63° F | Light Rain
Spread: Seahawks -9
Moneyline: Team A vs Team B
Game Total: N/A
Watch: FOX
Stream: Fox Sports Go
Listen: Seattle vs Baltimore

Analysis: The Ravens have played better recently. Baltimore is 2 and 1 straight up in their last 3 games. They had a chance to beat Miami but ended up falling to the Dolphins 13 to 15 in Week 13. Baltimore’s biggest issue is QB Matt Schaub. Schaub has thrown 4 interceptions in his first 2 games as the starter.

Schaub should pass the league’s concussion protocol. He may not want to because Seattle’s defense figures to put a hurting on him. The Seahawks have been on a roll for the past three weeks. Against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13, the Seahawks sacked QB Teddy Bridgewater 4 times and forced him into an interception. Seattle beat Minnesota 38 to 7 as a -2 point road favorite. Russell Wilson threw 4 touchdowns in that game. Seattle rolls.

Pick: Seattle
