NFL Week 16 Lock Picks

Keep reading for NFL Week 16 Lock Picks!  Philly battles Washington in the nation’s capital while Detroit travels to Soldier Field to take on Chicago. In the other lock pick, Cincinnati looks to beat Denver in a must win game.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington
When: Saturday, Dec. 20 at 4:25 pm ET
TV:  NFL
Betting Line: Philadelphia -8

Analysis: RGIII will get be the start again for the Washington NFL franchise wen they take on the Eagles in week 16. Will it matter? Will he finish the game?

Neither quarterback figure to have enough juice to get Washington a win against NFC East rival Philly. The Eagles dropped a game against Dallas. That was for the NFC East lead. Now, Philadelphia will be playing just to make it to the playoffs, not to win the division. A motivated Philadelphia team should have no trouble scoring against a decent, but not great, Washington defense while Washington’s offense is a mess.

The team from D.C. is averaging only 18.4 points per game while Philadelphia is averaging 29.7 points per. Philly should romp no matter what the odds are.

My NFL Week 16 Lock Pick: Philadelphia -8

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
When:  Sunday, Dec. 21 at 1:00 pm ET
TV: FOX
Betting Line: Detroit -4

Analysis: No matter what happens in the Monday contest between Chicago and New Orleans, the Bears have only a small chance of covering the spread against Detroit this Sunday.

10-4 Detroit is only 2 and 4 against the spread on the road, but the defense is ranked first in the NFL in points allowed per game at 17 and rushing yards allowed per game at 63.8. The Lions pummeled Chicago 34 to 17 on Thanksgiving Day. The Bears rushed for only 13 yards in that game and Jay Cutler threw 2 interceptions.

Defensively, Chicago could have some trouble keeping Megatron and Matthew Stafford from lighting them up. Yes, Detroit’s offense can be terrible at times, but it should have no issues against a Bears’ defense that allows 377.8 yards and 29 points per contest. The 29 points ranks Chicago thirty-second in the NFL in points allowed per game.

My NFL Week 16 Lock Pick: Detroit -4

Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals
When:  Monday, Dec. 22 at 8:30 pm ET
TV: ESPN
Betting Line: Denver -3.5

Analysis: Denver’s defense has been absolutely terrific lately, it’s allowing less than 72 yards per game on the ground, while the offense continues to excel even though it’s more balanced than QB Peyton Manning may like it to be.

Denver has the edge over Cincinnati in almost every statistical category. The Broncos allow only 309.4 total yards on defense while the offense averages 111.3 yards on the ground and 289.4 yards via the pass.

Denver scores 29 points per game while Cincinnati’s offense only averages 22.2. But the Broncos go into this off of a key road win against the rival San Diego Chargers. They could bounce in this game just enough to give Cincinnati the edge. The Bengals are rushing for 130 yards per game.

They won’t get anything close to that against the Broncos, but they might get just enough on the ground to open things up for Andy Dalton and the passing game. A.J. Green, Cincinnati’s wide receiver, is still one of the best in the NFL.

On defense, Cincinnati will have to be more solid than they were against Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns in their 30 to 0 win. That sounds crazy, but they faced a rookie QB in Week 15 while they take on a hall-of-fame QB in Week 16. Cincy has the motivation.

My NFL Week 16 Lock Pick: Cincinnati +3.5
