So lets not waste any time and get going.

New York battles Buffalo while New England takes on Miami. New England has a lot to lose in their game against Miami. Should New England win, home field advantage throughout the playoffs would be theirs. The Jets need continued momentum going into the AFC Playoffs. The other lock game is a battle for pride between NFC North rivals Detroit and Chicago.

NFL Week 17 Five Star Expert Picks

What: NY Jets (10-5) at Buffalo Bills (7-8)
When: Sunday, January 3, 2015
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Buffalo, NY
Stadium: Ralph Wilson Stadium
Spread: Jets -3
Moneyline: New York -150 vs Buffalo +130
Game Total: 43
Watch: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Listen: New York vs Buffalo

Analysis: At this point, the Jets are scheduled to take on the Bengals in the AFC Wildcard Round. The New York Jets have become team 1A, Kansas City is team 1, in the squad that nobody wants to play in the playoffs department.

Todd Bowles has done an excellent job as the first year coach of the Jets. He took a team that Rex Ryan couldn’t get to play together into a viable contender for the AFC Championship. The Jets are that good on both sides of the ball. Bowles and his players can show their prowess even more in Week 17 by putting a beat down on Ryan and Ryan’s 7 and 8 Buffalo squad. Expect the Jets to win easily.

Pick: New York Jets

What: New England Patriots (12-3) at Miami Dolphins (5-10)
When: Sunday, January 3, 2015
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Miami, FL
Stadium: Sun Life Stadium
Spread: Patriots -9
Game Total: 47
Watch: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Listen: New England vs Miami

Analysis: The Patriots don’t lose 2 games in a row. It just doesn’t happen. The point spread does seem somewhat high, but the Pats have to win in order to ensure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. If they lose and Denver beats San Diego, New England drops to the number 2 seed.

The Dolphins are just a bad team. Miami is 5 and 10 on the season. They’ve lost 3 in a row to teams that they should have probably beaten: the New York Giants, San Diego Chargers and the Indianapolis Colts. None of those 3 teams have a winning record. New England should beat Miami by at least 17 points in this game.

Pick: New England

What: Detroit Lions (6-9) at Chicago Bears (6-9)
When: Sunday, January 3, 2015
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Chicago, IL
Stadium: Soldier Field
Spread: Bears -1
Game Total: 45
Watch: FOX
Stream: Fox Sports Go
Listen: Detroit vs Chicago

Analysis: This week’s pride game involves Detroit at Chicago. The Lions’ Jim Caldwell needs his players to come up huge if he hopes to keep his job. That’s unlikely to happen. Even though Chicago is a bad team, the Bears are 6 and 9 on the season, Coach John Fox’s guys play with heart. Chicago went into Tampa Bay and beat the Buccaneers 26 to 21. Players like to put on their gear for a guy like Fox. They’ll play their hearts out again versus a team in Detroit with some players who probably want to start their vacation.

Pick: Chicago
