NFL Week 17 Lock Picks

NFL Week 17 Lock Picks

Finding NFL Week 17 Lock Picks may not look easy, but because so many things are up in the air regarding the playoffs, many teams are going to have to lay everything out and onto the field in Week 17.

Dallas battles Washington in a game that could go a long way in determining whether or not the Cowboys get a bye next week. Baltimore has to beat Cleveland and hope for some luck against San Diego to get in while the winner between Detroit and Green Bay will determine who wins the NFC North.

Analyzing My NFL Week 17 Lock Alert Picks

Dallas Cowboys at Washington
When: Sunday, Dec. 28 at 1:00 pm ET
TV:  FOX
NFL Week 17 Betting Line: Doesn’t matter

Analysis: The Cowboys are going to be huge favorites versus Washington on the road in Week 17. They should have no trouble covering the spread because Dallas will be extremely motivated.

The Cowboys can get a bye should they beat Washington and if Detroit or Seattle loses. If both lose, not outside the realm of possibility because Seattle plays St. Louis, a team that has already beaten them this season and Detroit plays Green Bay at Lambeau, the Cowboys would garner home field advantage throughout the NFC Playoffs.

Washington did beat Philadelphia 27 to 24 in Week 16, but the D.C.’ers don’t have enough of an offense to tackle a motivated Cowboys’ team with a quarterback who should be the MVP of the league. Tony Romo has garnered a QB rating of 114.4. He’s also completing 70% of his passes.

NFL Week 17 Lock Pick: Dallas Cowboys

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
When:  Sunday, Dec. 28 at 1:00 pm ET
TV: CBS
NFL Week 17 Betting Line: Baltimore -8.5

Analysis: Baltimore will be motivated as well, but in this case, the Ravens just don’t seem to have it together. They’ll need to hope that San Diego loses in order to get into the playoffs and, based on their performance this past weekend, that motivation most likely won’t be there.

Simply put, the Ravens appear perfectly content to start their off-season early. How else to explain the dreadful 13 to 25 loss to Houston on the road in Week 16?  Houston started Case Keenum, a quarterback that wasn’t even on their roster the week before, and still managed to beat Baltimore.

Cleveland will most likely have to go back to Brian Hoyer because Johnny Manziel got hurt in Week 16. That could be a good thing for the Browns. Hoyer will be motivated while the Ravens’ QB, Joe “Thank You for the Money” Flaaco will be dreaming about the house boat he’s going to buy during the off-season.

NFL Week 17 Lock Pick: Cleveland Browns +8.5

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
When:  Sunday, Dec. 28 at 1:00 pm ET
TV: FOX
NFL Week 17 Betting Line: Green Bay -7.5

Analysis: Both teams will be motivated in this game. Detroit could win home field advantage with a victory and a loss by Seattle while Green Bay could win the NFC North and home field advantage should Seattle and Dallas both lose.

As good as Green Bay has looked at home this season, Detroit might be the type of team to squash the allure of Lambeau Field. Detroit has a ferocious defense, statistically it’s the best in the NFL, and the offense has started to pick it up. Detroit also dominated Green Bay’s offense earlier this season at Ford Field.

Detroit’s pass rushers are good enough to disrupt Aaron Rodgers and keep this one close. Take the Lions and the points.
