NFL Week 2 Over/Under Total Analysis
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Detroit Lions: 48
Last week, the L.A. Chargers scored 30 while the Detroit Lions were good for 27. On paper, this looks like a high-scoring, defense on the back burner type of game, but the Lions should slow things down. In Week 1, Detroit rushed the ball 32 times and only scored 27 because the Cards sped the game up and Kyler Murray threw two picks. Expect this one to go under.
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants: 43 ½
Neither one of these squads wants to give the football up. Both would prefer to average 3.5 yards per carry. The Giants will try to get fancy because they’ve got some excellent skill players, but Buffalo’s defense is one of the best in the NFL.
Chicago Bears vs. Denver Broncos: 40 ½
The Broncos looked awful in the first half of their loss to the Oakland Raiders. Poor Joe Flacco. He doesn’t seem to have weapons. Or, is it, Flacco is just a mediocre quarterback? That’s probably not true. However, Denver will try to rush the football while Chicago’s offense was horrendous last Thursday against Green Bay. Sounds harsh, but we could be looking at one of those put you to sleep 13-3 contests…yep, just like the 2019 Super Bowl.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Houston Texans: 44 ½
Houston will score at will. DeShaun Watson is already one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The Texans have a two-headed running back by committee with Carlos “I’ve Never Been” Hyde-ing and Duke “Don’t Call Me John Wayne” Johnson. DeShaun can also throw to a deep WR corps.
The Jaguars? Not so much. Nick Foles is for Jacksonville. So, the Jags must generate points with a hobbled offense. Still, they only need around 17 for this to go over because Houston blows them out.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons: 51
Atlanta has no rushing attack. They probably won’t even try after seeing Case Keenum light up the Eagles defense. Instead of handing the ball off, they’ll let Matty Ryan throw the pigskin all over the place and force the Eagles to catch up…which the Philly Birds will promptly do.
