NFL Week 2 Parlay Picks

It’s time to get an early start and make picks for a few winning NFL Week 2 parlays. Who’s the better play when Tampa Bay travels to Arizona to take on the Cardinals? Will Indianapolis bounce back against a tough Denver Broncos’ squad on the road in Week 2?  How will Green Bay handle its first game of the season against an NFC North rival when the Packers battle Minnesota?

NFL Week 2 Two-Team Parlay Pick

  • Tampa Bay +7.5
  • Denver -6
  • Minnesota +2.5

Tampa Bay at Arizona
When:  Sunday, Sept.18 at 4:05 pm ET
Where: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, CA
TV: FOX
Odds: Tampa Bay +7.5

Analysis: Arizona’s offense wasn’t as sharp as it should be later on in the season in Week 1 versus New England. The Cardinals only managed 363 yards. They scored only 21 points in the 21 to 23 loss to the Patriots.

Tampa Bay’s offense and defense played well against Atlanta in Week 1. Jameis Winston was on fire when throwing for 4 touchdowns. The Buccaneers gathered 90 yards on the ground in the 31 to 24 win. Tampa Bay’s defense held the Falcons to 52 rushing yards. They allowed Matt Ryan to go off but stopping Atlanta’s rush really helped Tampa Bay seal the win.

I think 7.5 points are just too many to give up to a team with a balanced offense and a decent defense. Tampa Bay could win this game straight up. I’ll take the points and make TB my top pick for my parlay.

Pick: Tampa Bay

Indianapolis at Denver
When:  Sunday, Sept. 18 at 4:25 pm ET
Where: Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Denver, CO
TV: CBS
Odds: Denver -6

Analysis: The Indianapolis Colts have a terrible defense. Detroit’s Matthew Stafford took the Colts’ D to the woodshed with a 340 yard, 3 TD performance. The Colts’ defense also allowed Detroit to rush for 116 yards from 24 carries.

As I expected, Denver’s offense was much better than many believed it would be in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. QB Trevor Siemian threw 2 interceptions. That’s the bad news. The good news is that he showed flashes of being a legitimate starter in the NFL. What really helped Siemian in the 21 to 20 win over the Panthers was Denver’s strong rushing attack.

C.J. Anderson rushed for 90 yards and a TD. The Broncos rushed for 148 yards against the Panthers. They might approach 200 rushing yards versus the Colts. I don’t see how Denver doesn’t cover the 6-point spread.

Pick: Denver

NFL Week 2 Three-Team Parlay Pick

  • Tampa Bay +7.5
  • Denver -6
  • Minnesota +2.5

Green Bay at Minnesota
When:  Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN
TV: NBC
Odds: Minnesota +2.5

Analysis: Green Bay’s defense didn’t look all that hot versus Jacksonville. As a 4-point road favorite, the Packers beat the Jags 27 to 23, pushing against the spread. Now, Green Bay is a -2.5-point road favorite against the rival Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings held Tennessee’s excellent rushing game in check in Week 1. What was more impressive was how Minnesota’s defense recovered 2 fumbles and caused Titans’ QB Marcus Mariota to throw a pick.

Minnesota should start QB Sam Bradford this week against Green Bay. Bradford will be able to open things up for RB Adrian Peterson, something that Shaun Hill couldn’t do against Tennessee. I like Minnesota to win this game straight up on Sunday, Sept. 18.

Pick: Minnesota +2.5
