NFL Week 4 Five ? Lock Picks

Can Houston cover an over 6-point spread against Tennessee in Week 4? How will Tampa Bay respond versus Denver after losing to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3? Can the New York Giants bounce back from a loss to Washington in Week 3 against hot Minnesota?  Keep reading for my top NFL Week 4 five start picks!

Tennessee at Houston
When:  Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: NRG Stadium, Houston, TX
TV: CBS
Odds: Houston -6.5

Analysis: Houston’s defense was exceptional up until it met Jacoby Brissett and the New England Patriots’ offense in Week 4. The Pats dominated Houston 27 to 0.

What has to disturb Texan fans is that Houston’s offense was absolutely horrible in the game against the Pats. Brock Osweiler played like crap. Not only that but the Texans allowed Patriot RB Legarrette Blount to rush for 105 yards. Blount also scored 2 touchdowns.

Tennessee has two Legarrette Blounts in rookie Heisman Trophy Winner Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray. QB Marcus Mariota has some wheels as well. Houston’s offense is playing so badly right now that Mariota, Murray and Henry only have to be decent in order for Tennessee to keep this under 6 points.

Pick: Tennessee +6.5

Denver at Tampa Bay
When:  Sunday, Oct. 2 at 4:05 pm ET
Where: Raymond James, Stadium, Tampa, FL
TV: CBS
Odds: Denver -3

Analysis: Denver’s defense is good. We all knew that going into the 2016 NFL Regular Season. But did anybody really believe that Denver’s offense would be better this season than it was last season?

That’s what has happened. The Broncos look like the team to beat in the NFL for the Super Bowl after dominating the Cincinnati Bengals on the road this past Sunday as a +3 dog. Denver allowed the Bengals to rush for 143 yards. Denver’s defense held Cincinnati to 189 passing yards.

Not bad and to be expected. What wasn’t to be expected was Denver QB Trevor Siemian throwing for 312 yards and 4 touchdowns. It looked like Siemian is for real, meaning that Tampa Bay has little hope of keeping this one close in Week 4.

Pick: Denver -3

New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings
When:  Monday, Oct. 3 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN
TV: ESPN
Odds: Minnesota -4

Analysis: The Vikings showed in Week 3 that aren’t a team to be trifled with. Minnesota dominated the Carolina Panthers as a +6 underdog in Week 3. After Carolina rushed out to a 10 to 0 lead, Minnesota responded with an incredible performance.

The Vikings sacked Cam Newton 8 times for 64 yards lost. They absolutely pummeled the Carolina offense. It was a thing of beauty. When Minnesota had the ball on offense, they played the way that the old 1990 Dallas Cowboys teams used to play.

It makes sense because offensive coordinator Norv Turner was the OC for those Dallas teams in the early 1990’s. Minnesota turned the three Cam Newton interceptions into points by calmly passing the football and rushing the football. It was a drastic difference from the Minnesota team that aired it against Green Bay in Week 3.

The Vikings have solidified themselves as one of the best teams in the NFL. They should have no trouble covering a 4 point spread against the New York Giants in Week 4.

Pick: Minnesota -4
