Week 5 NFL Five ? Lock Picks

Can Denver take down hot Atlanta at Mile High on Sunday? Will the Rams continue their winning ways versus the underrated Buffalo Bills in Week 5?  How will Cincinnati do on the road versus the tough Dallas Cowboys? Keep reading for my NFL Lock Picks for Week 5!

Atlanta Falcons at Denver Broncos
When:  Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4:05 pm ET
Where: Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium, Denver, CO
TV: FOX
Odds: Denver -4.5

Analysis: Atlanta has been the most impressive team in the NFC South so far this season. They were the most impressive in the NFC South up until Week 6 last season. I don’t think Atlanta stays impressive after Week 5 this season.

The Falcons’ Matt Ryan has been playing at an MVP level. He threw for 503 yards, WR Julio Jones had 300 of the 500 yards, against Carolina. He also passed for 4 touchdowns to a single interception. The Falcons’ offense has been incredible with Ryan under center.

I think that it all comes crashing down for Atlanta this Sunday. The Denver Broncos’ defense allows 169.5 passing yards per game. Denver has already faced Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston.

Ryan and Jones come back down to earth versus the Broncos’ defense on Sunday. I like Denver to cover the spread.

Pick: Denver -4.5

Buffalo at Los Angeles
When:  Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4:25 pm ET
Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA
TV: CBS
Odds: Los Angeles -2.5

Analysis: What’s up with the Los Angeles Rams? The Rams looked like one of the worst teams in the NFL when losing to San Francisco in Week 1. Things can change fast in the pro football league, though. L.A. is now a terrific 3 and 1 straight up and 3 and 1 against the spread going into their Week 5 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

No win for L.A. was as impressive as beating the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4. Arizona was supposed to dominate the Rams. They failed miserably as the Rams’ defense held Arizona to only 13 points. The Cardinals only scored 13 points even though they rushed for 118 yards and passed for 302.

Buffalo has looked good in the last 2 weeks as well. The Bills’ offense is slightly worse than the Rams’ offense, which has benefited from the terrific play of Case Keenum, who has thrown 4 TDs to only a single interception in the Rams last 2 games.

Pick: Los Angeles -2.5

Cincinnati at Dallas
When:  Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4:25 pm ET
Where: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
TV: CBS
Odds: Pick

Analysis: Dallas is a decent team. The Cowboys have won 3 games in a row. But those wins were against Washington, Chicago and San Francisco. There’s a chance that Cincinnati blows out Dallas in this one.

Why?  Cincinnati finally put it all together in a terrific 22 to 7 win over Miami in Week 4. In that game, A.J. Green caught 10 of 12 targets for 173 yards. He scored a TD. There are few defenses that can guard Green. He should have a monster game against the Cowboys whose secondary allowed San Francisco’s Jeremy Kerley to catch 8 passes for 88 yards and a TD in Week 4.

Cincinnati should roll in this matchup.

Pick: Cincinnati
