NFL Week 5 Parlay Picks

Can Tennessee bounce back as a slight road favorite over Miami?  How will Pittsburgh do versus the New York Jets off of their stunning Sunday beat down of Kansas City? Does Houston have any shot against Minnesota in Minneapolis?

Week 5 NFL 2-Team Parlay Picks

  • Tennessee +3.5
  • Pittsburgh -6.5
  • Minnesota -6

Tennessee at Miami
When:  Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, FL
TV: CBS
Odds: Tennessee +3.5

Analysis: The Titans played Houston tough in Week 4. They still lost 20 to 27 but they kept it within 7 points. It still wasn’t a good enough game for Tennessee to cover the spread. What it means is that the Titans are 1-3 ATS this season.

But the Titans’ offense might be perfectly suited to take down the Miami Dolphins straight up on Sunday. Tennessee averages 127 rushing yards per game. That ranks 4th in the NFL. Miami allows 129.8 rushing yards per game on average.

It doesn’t matter that the Dolphins should win this game. If Miami doesn’t stop Tennessee’s rushing attack, the Titans have a great shot at least keeping this one within 3 points.

Pick: Tennessee +3.5

New York Jets at Pittsburgh
When:  Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
TV: CBS
Odds: Pittsburgh -6.5

Analysis: The Steelers are a different team with Le’Veon Bell at running back. Bell rushed the football 18 times for 144 yards. He caught 5 of 6 targets for 34 yards. He opened the entire offense up for the Steelers who decimated Kansas City 43 to 14 on Sunday night.

It’s hard to see the New York Jets keeping pace with Pittsburgh in this game. Big Ben found a new, viable WR in Sammy Coates. Now, Big Ben has 4 big targets:  Coates, WR Antonio Brown, TE Jesse James and Bell. All 4 are capable of beating coverage one on one. If you try and play a man to man defense against the Steelers, which is what the Jets are likely to do, forget it. You’re toast.

I think that Pittsburgh rocks the Jets and wins by at least 10 points on Sunday.

Pick: Pittsburgh -6.5

Week 5 NFL 3-Team Parlay Picks

  • Tennessee +3.5
  • Pittsburgh -6.5
  • Minnesota -6

Houston at Minnesota
When:  Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN
TV: CBS
Odds: Minnesota -6

Analysis: The Minnesota Vikings have been the most impressive team so far this season. They are the most well-coached on both offense and defense. Sam Bradford is the perfect quarterback for Norv Turner’s style.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Vikings can continue to be impressive on offense without RB Adrian Peterson. Even Turner knows how difficult that may end up being. But I don’t think it will matter in Week 5. Houston’s offense looked great against Tennessee.

Minnesota’s defense is different. The Vikings have the defensive line to pressure Brock Osweiler in this. Once they pressure Osweiler, and shut down RB Lamar Miller, the Vikings should be able to control Houston’s wide receivers without much issue.
Minnesota rolls.

Pick: Minnesota -6
