Every road team appears to have a chance to take down their favored home opponent. Keep reading for details on why you should consider these games for your upset picks this Sunday!
A Closer Look At My NFL Week 6 Upset Picks
Washington at New York Jets
When: Sunday, Oct. 18 at 1:00 pm ET
Odds: New York Jets -5.5
What’s up with the love for the Jets? The Jets are a decent team, their only loss was to Philadelphia this season, but they’ve played against squads so far that have no shot at beating them on the defensive side of the ball.

What the Jets have been able to do is throw it with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and run it with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell against bad defenses. Washington has one of the better defenses in the NFL. Washington allows only 97.6 yards per game on the ground. The defense in D.C. allows 216.4 passing yards per game.
The Jets don’t have the team to pass against the D.C.’ers, meaning that Washington will put an extra man in the box and dare Fitzpatrick to beat them. On offense, Washington’s rushing attack could keep New York’s terrific defense off balance.
Pick: Washington +5.5
Miami Dolphins at Tennessee Titans
When: Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1:00 pm ET
Odds: Tennessee -2.5
Sometimes all a team needs is a coaching change in order to get fired up about winning. On paper, Miami is a much better team than Tennessee. But, Tennessee has Marcus Mariota at QB while Miami has Ryan Tannehill.
Granted, Tannehill has looked terrible in recent games. But, playing against Tennessee’s defense might be exactly what Tannehill needs to get back into the good graces of Dolphins’ upper management. Although the stats say that Tennessee’s defense is good, the Titans are ranked third overall in the NFL in yards allowed per game, the record says that it’s bad.

Tennessee has lost 3 games in a row. The defense gave up 35 points to Indianapolis 2 games back. It gave up 28 points to Cleveland three games back. Miami goes into this game off of a bye. The team should be ready to beat the Titans’ defense.
The Dolphins need to try and run the football. If they have success, they should start opening it up with Tannehill. Miami’s defense has looked bad, but it should be tougher in this game than it has been in its last couple. The Dolphins can win straight up.
Pick: Miami +2.5
San Diego Chargers at Green Bay Packers
When: Sunday Oct. 18 at 4:25 pm ET
Odds: Green Bay -9.5
San Diego travels to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers in what could be a much closer game than the -9.5 point spread. San Diego has the type of offense that could derail Green Bay’s undefeated season.
— Sports Illustrated (@SInow) October 8, 2015
The Green Bay defense is committed in every game to stopping the pass. The Packers allow only 186.2 passing yards per game. Usually, that would work versus a team like San Diego with Phillip Rivers, but this season the Chargers have a legitimate top running back in former Wisconsin star Melvin Gordon.
If the Chargers are able to get Gordon some great touches, Green Bay will have to change its defense. That will play into the hands of Rivers. Rivers is able to beat any secondary in the NFL. Green Bay will definitely score. But, the Packers might not score enough to cover the spread in this.
Pick: San Diego +9.5
