Atlanta goes into the game off of its first loss of the season. Can Atlanta bounce back with a big road win on Sunday? Tampa Bay travels to Washington in the second lock pick game while Houston battles Miami in the third lock pick game. Keep reading for analysis for NFL Week 7’s Five Star Lock Picks!

It appears that QB Marcus Mariota has finally come down to earth. He’s a rookie and he’s starting to play like a rookie. Mariota had 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles against the Dolphins in the Titans 10 to 38 loss in Week 6. Now, Mariota has to face Dan Quinn’s very good defense this Sunday.

Atlanta’s defense is first in the NFL against the rush. The Falcons allow 78.8 yards per game via the rush. Although the defense is ranked twenty-ninth in the NFL against the pass, the philosophy of stopping the rush first has definitely paid dividends this season.

It’s doubtful that Mariota is going to be able to take advantage of the Falcons’ inability to stop teams from racking up passing yards. Quinn usually tweaks his defense as well, meaning that terrific cornerback Desmond Trufant could blitz Mariota more.

Offensively, Atlanta RB Devonta Freeman has a huge advantage over a Tennessee defense that’s allowing 129.6 rush yards per game on average. Atlanta rolls to an easy victory.

Pick: Atlanta -3.5

Listen: Tampa Bay vs Washington

Washington’s defense allowed the Jets to score 24 points in the second half of their 34 to 20 loss to NYJ in Week 6. At halftime, the DC’ers had a 13 to 10 lead over the Jets. What happened is that the Jets simply wore down Washington’s defensive front.

While the DC’ers usually only allow 118.2 rushing yards per game on the ground, the Jets rushed for 221 yards. Washington just couldn’t continue to contain RB Chris Ivory. Versus Tampa Bay’s rushers, Washington should have a much easier time.

Coach Jay Gruden should pound the football with Washington RB Alfred Morris in this matchup. Tampa Bay allows 120.4 rushing yards per game on average. The DC’ers average 107.2 rushing yards per game. If Gruden sticks to Morris, it’s going to be hard for Tampa Bay to keep it close on Sunday.

Pick: Washington -3.5

Game Total: 43

Listen: Houston vs Miami

Houston finally got it going after losing 4 out of their first 5 games of the season in a 31 to 20 win over Jacksonville in Week 6. Houston QB Brian Hoyer dominated the Jags’ defense with 293 passing yards and 3 touchdowns.

Hoyer is going to have more difficulty against a resurgent Miami defense this Sunday. Miami held Tennessee to 236 passing yards and only 36 rushing yards. The defense played with a lot more. The defensive line sacked Mariota 6 times.

On offense, Lamar Miller was very good when rushing for 113 yards and a TD from 19 carries. QB Ryan Tannehill played better than he has all season long when completing 22 of 29 passes for 266 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tannehill did throw 2 picks, but he faced the number one ranked passing defense in the NFL in Week 6. In Week 7 he faces the thirteenth ranked pass defense in the NFL. Miami is as close to a lock as any team in the NFL this week.

Pick: Miami -5
