NFL Week 8 Betting Cheat Sheet – ATS, Over/Under & Money Line Picks

It’s the halfway point in the NFL Season. Some teams that were supposed to be at the top of the standings, like Seattle, are facing playoff elimination while other teams are starting to solidify their positions as the best teams in the league.

Week 8’s top matchup has Green Bay traveling to Denver in a battle of undefeated teams. Miami takes on New England in the Patriots second straight tough AFC East game while Seattle travels to Dallas to take on the reeling Cowboys.

NFL Week 8 ATS Picks

Tennessee at Houston
When: Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 pm ET
Odds: Houston -1

Once the line is established, Houston RB Arian Foster is out for the season again, handicappers should seriously consider backing Tennessee. It doesn’t matter whether Tennessee is a dog or a favorite of -3 points.

QB Marcus Mariota is likely to be back. Even if he isn’t, Zach Mettenberger is more than capable of carrying the Titans past a Houston defense that’s allowing 28 points per game and over 242 passing yards per.

Houston’s offense is also ridiculously bad. Tennessee will prevail against the spread.

Pick: Tennessee

NY Jets at Oakland
When: Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 pm ET
Odds: Pick

Oakland’s offense played very well when punishing the San Diego Chargers’ defense in Week 7 for 38 points, 130 total rushing yards and 282 passing yards. The Raiders dominated a bad Chargers’ defense.

The word bad is important to use when describing San Diego’s defense. When describing the Jets’ defense, the word to use is good. The Jets had the win against the Patriots. Even though they lost it in the end and suffered a couple of injuries on defense for it, NYJ is still good enough to force Oakland QB Derek Carr into an interception or two in this.

Pick: New York Jets

Green Bay at Denver
When: Sunday, Nov. 1 at 8:30 pm ET
Odds: Green Bay -2.5

Nobody believes in Broncos’ QB Peyton Manning. His QB rating is 72.5. He’s thrown only 7 TD passes to 10 interceptions. Peyton now faces one of the better teams in the NFL, maybe the best team in the NFL, in Green Bay in Week 8.

Green Bay’s defense gives up a lot of yards on the rush but fewer yards than most teams via the pass. Denver doesn’t have much of a rushing attack, which means that they’re going to have to utilize Peyton’s arm in order to win this matchup.

That won’t happen. Nobody can out gun sling Aaron Rodgers.

Pick: Green Bay

NFL Week 8 Game Total Over/Under Picks

Miami at New England
When: Thursday, Oct. 29 at 1:00 pm ET

Miami scored 41 points against Houston’s defense in Week 7 in a stunning 44 to 26 win. What was great about the win is that both Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake each had 2 sacks for the Dolphins in the win over Houston.

Also, QB Ryan Tannehill threw for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns when completing 18 out of 19. Miami’s offense is scoring points in bunches. They have a great rushing attack and an excellent passing attack. New England is the highest-scoring team in the NFL at 35.5 points per matchup. This game goes over.

Pick: Over

Detroit at Kansas City
When: Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 pm ET

Detroit scored 14 points in the first quarter against Minnesota’s defense. It appeared that QB Matthew Stafford, WR Calvin Johnson and the rest of the Lions’ offense was going to get it going big time on the scoreboard. Then, the second half happened and Detroit could only muster a safety in the fourth quarter. The Vikings beat Detroit 28 to 19.

Kansas City only averages 21.4 points per game. KC should win but Detroit’s defense is good enough to keep this one close. This game goes under.

Pick: Under

NY Giants at New Orleans Saints
When: Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 pm ET

The Saints put it altogether in a 27 to 21 win against the Giants in Week 7. New Orleans’ offense was definitely clicking. The rushing attack got it going early, which led to a great performance by QB Drew Brees.

Or, was it the other way around? Either way, the Giants’ defense continues to give up a lot of yards. This time, RB Darren McFadden rushed for 152 yards and a TD against the G-Men. The Saints can run or pass and New Orleans’ defense tends to fall apart mentally in the second half of games.
Over it is!

Pick: Over

NFL Week 8 Straight Up Moneyline Picks

San Francisco at St. Louis
When: Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 pm ET

You can’t win the NFL when averaging 14.7 points per game, which is what San Francisco averages week in and week out. This is especially true if you allow 406 yards and over 25 points per game.

St. Louis averages only 18 points per game. The difference is that St. Louis has an excellent running back in Todd Gurley and a more than capable QB in Nick Foles. The Rams roll to an easy moneyline win in this matchup.

Pick: St. Louis

Minnesota at Chicago
When: Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 pm ET

Minnesota came back against Detroit to beat the Lions 28 to 19 in Week 7. The Vikings are a very talented team. Now that QB Teddy Bridgewater has someone to throw the football to in Stefon Diggs, the Vikings’ offense should be very tough moving forward.

But Chicago can play some football. The defense isn’t great but it plays hard. The offense can stick with Minnesota because Jay Cutler is a better QB than many believe him to be. Not only that, but RB Matt Forte could have a huge game. Go for the upset-minded home team in this matchup.
Pick: Chicago

Seattle at Dallas
When: Sunday, Nov. 1 at 4:25 pm ET

Dallas is just a mess of a team. They can’t do anything on offense, or, what they do is limited and they end up making mistakes. The defense isn’t very good. Without QB Tony Romo, the team can’t buy a win.

Seattle looked good versus San Francisco. Then again, the Seahawks were playing against one of the worst teams in all of football. Seattle should be able to rock the Dallas defense early with Beast Mode while shutting down the Cowboys’ offense. This game is Seattle’s to win or lose.

Pick: Seattle
