Wild Card Weekend Two-Team Parlay

  • Carolina Panthers -5.5
  • Pittsburgh Steelers -3

Matchup: Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers
Date: Jan. 3, 2015
Start Time: 4:20 p.m. ET
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Stadium: Bank of America Stadium
TV Info: ESPN
Radio:  Arizona Vs  Carolina
Point Spread: Panthers -5.5
Game Total: 39

Analysis: 54% of the NFL Wild Card weekend betting public are backing the Arizona Cardinals to cover the spread in this game. That’s not likely to happen for a number of reasons.

Even with Drew Stanton as their QB, Arizona would find things difficult against a Carolina defense that has locked down quarterbacks like the Saints’ Drew Brees, in a 41 to 10 Panthers’ win, and Atlanta’s Matt Ryan, in a 34 to 3 Panthers’ victory, in the last month.

Carolina is good at stopping the run as well, meaning that Arizona could be in desperation mode to put up points in this game with Ryan Lindley under center. On offense, the Panthers’ Cam Newton has looked spectacular lately.

Matchup: Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
Date: Jan. 3, 2015
Start Time: 8:15 p.m. ET
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Stadium: Heinz Field
TV Info: NBC
Radio:  Baltimore Vs  Pittsburgh
Point Spread: Steelers -3
Game Total: N/A

Analysis: There are some reasons to believe that Baltimore could upset Pittsburgh on the road and beat their NFC North rival in this game. Baltimore’s Joe Flaaco has won the Super Bowl before. Flaaco has a couple of tough, veteran wide receivers to throw the ball to in Steve Smith and Torrey Smith.

But Flaaco hasn’t had a great season. He’s looked more Eli Manning like than Tom Brady like in games and the Ravens have a ton of injuries that could stop them from doing a lot of things on offense that they’d like to do.

Defensively, Baltimore can stop the run but has trouble against the pass and with nose tackle Haloti Ngata set to return after a 4 game P.E.D. suspension this game will be a bar-room brawl.

That’s bad news because Ben Roethlisberger goes into this game with a 103.3 QB rating and threw 6 touchdowns against the Ravens’ D the last time that these two teams met. With RB Le’Veon Bell questionable for this Wild Card matchup, the Steelers signed RB Ben Tate who should be able to spot the blitz and add an added layer of protection for Big Ben allowing the QB to throw enough TDs to Brown, Bryant or Miller.

Wild Card Weekend Three-Team Parlay

  • Carolina Panthers -5.5
  • Pittsburgh Steelers -3
  • Dallas Cowboys -7

Matchup: Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys
Date: Jan. 4, 2015
Start Time: 4:40 p.m. ET
Location: Arlington, Texas
Stadium: AT&T Stadium
TV Info: FOX
Radio:  Detroit Vs  Dallas
Point Spread: Cowboys -7
Game Total: 48.5

Analysis: Guess who’s back?

With or without Suh, the Lions defense front 7 are to have trouble pressuring Dallas QB Tony Romo in this game.

Romo plays behind arguably the best offensive line in all of football. He also has the terrific DeMarco Murry to carry the ball, meaning that Dallas does not have to throw the football on every down when they are on offense.

Defensively, Dallas could sit back in a Cover 2 and double-team Calvin Johnson with a nickel back because Detroit has no rushing game to speak of. The ‘Boys figure to roll in this contest.

Wild Card Weekend Four-Team Parlay

  • Carolina Panthers -5.5
  • Pittsburgh Steelers -3
  • Dallas Cowboys -7
  • Cincinnati Bengals +4

Matchup: Cincinnati Bengals at Indianapolis Colts
Date: Jan. 4, 2015
Start Time: 1:05 p.m. ET
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Stadium: Lucas Oil Stadium
TV Info: CBS
Radio:  Cincinnati Vs  Indianapolis
Point Spread: Colts -4
Game Total: N/A

Analysis: The Colts are the top pick to cover the spread in any of the 4 Wild Card Round games this weekend. A full 62% of sports betting handicappers are backing Indianapolis to cover the 4 points against Cincinnati on Sunday.

But, it looks like the Bengals actually have a couple of advantages in the game. First, Jeremy Hill is as good of a running back as the Colts have faced this season. Hill could very well control the line of scrimmage when the Bengals have the ball.

Second, Andrew Luck wasn’t nearly as sharp in the second half of the season, his QB rating against Cleveland was 59.8 and against Dallas it was 41.7, as he was in the first half of the season. Third, Indy doesn’t have the rushing attack to support Luck if he happens to be having an off day.

Cincinnati has a good shot of keeping this game within the 4 points in this matchup.
