The Favorite To Win The 2017 Stanley Cup Championship – Washington Capitals 6/1

Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals (42-13-7) are prohibitive favorites to win their first Stanley Cup title after falling just short a year ago and I say rightfully so, seeing as how they’ve been the best team in all of hockey all season long. The Caps have put together the league’s best record and rank a stellar third in scoring (3.3 gpg) and an equally impressive first in defense (2.1 gpg). The Caps have more offensive firepower than any team in the league with Nicklas Backstrom (64 points), Ovechkin (54 points) and Evgeny Kuznetsov (50 points) all ranking in the top 20 in points. Not only that, but after their Eastern Conference failure against Pittsburgh last season, the Caps have more than enough motivation.

The Smart Bet To Win The 2017 Stanley Cup Championship – Pittsburgh Penguins 7/1

Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins (38-15-8) are downright explosive offensively as they rank first in scoring by putting up a stellar 3.5 goals per game. While Pittsburgh has been mediocre in ranking 17th in goals allowed this season (2.8 gpg), they’ve also got three players amongst the league leaders in Crosby (67 points 2nd), fellow center Evgeni Malkin (62 points) and right winger Phil Kessel (56 points). The bottom line for the Pens is that they can and will outscore just about everyone en route to what looks like another Eastern Conference Finals appearance at the very least.

The Value Pick To Win The 2017 Stanley Cup Championship – Minnesota Wild 8/1

Maybe it’s me, but I’m a bit stunned that the Minnesota Wild (41-14-6) seem to be getting overlooked by hockey pundits everywhere. Minnesota has been pretty phenomenal this season in ranking second in scoring (3.4 gpg) and an equally impressive fourth in defense (2.4 gpg). Centers Mikael Granlund (55 points) and Mikko Koivu (46 points) are among the best scorers in the league this season while goalie Devan Dubnyk has been rock-solid in ranking first in wins (32) and second in goals-against-average (2.01).

The Longshot To Win The 2017 Stanley Cup Championship – Edmonton Oilers 18/1

The Oilers (34-22-8) may not be overpowering the rest of the league this season, but they’re pretty damned good and have the best scorer in the league in gifted center Connor McDavid (72 points). Edmonton ranks a solid 11th in scoring (2.8 gpg) and even more impressive eighth in goals allowed (2.5 gpg). Better yet, the mostly young Oilers have proven they can win anywhere as their 19-12-5 road record suggests.
