Are you looking to cash in on a few smart hockey bets this week? I have a trio of NHL’s best bets for the week of February 25th to March 3rd.
NHL Best Bets Feb 25 – March 3
Chicago Blackhawks at Anaheim Ducks
When: Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10:00 pm ET
Where: Honda Center, Anaheim, CA
Analysis: Chicago’s the worst team in the Central Division. However, they’re only under .500 by 2 games with 8 overtime losses and 2 shootout losses. That means the Blackhawks will have a chance to beat Anaheim on Wednesday, but they probably won’t.
The Ducks are 12-9-6-2 at home. They beat Chicago 4-2 in the last matchup. Not only do the Ducks have a winning home record, but they also won 2 of their last 3 home games: 1-0 over Vancouver and 5-2 over Washington. Anaheim’s lone home loss was 0-3 to the hottest team in NHL, the Boston Bruins.
It’s hard to choose the Ducks in this matchup, but that’s the way to go. Chicago’s 12-15-3-0 in away games this season. Also, because the Ducks have gotten such bad press, the Blackhawks might go off the favorite. Anaheim protects their home ice.
Pick: Anaheim Ducks
Nashville Predators at Winnipeg Jets
When: Friday, March 1 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Bell MTS Place, Winnipeg, MB, CA
Analysis: While Chicago is the worst team in the Central, the two best teams are Nashville and Winnipeg. Winnipeg leads the division by a single point over the Predators, 78-77.
Nashville’s gone 3-1 SU in their last 4 matchups. The most impressive victory was a sweet 5-3 road win against Dallas. The Stars have one of the top defenses in hockey. Laying 5 goals on Dallas says something.
But, the Preds are up against it versus the Jets on Friday. Winnipeg dominated Nashville 5-1 in the last matchup. Not only that, but the Jets are 21-7-3-1 at home. Winnipeg wins.
Pick: Winnipeg Jets
Washington Capitals at New York Rangers
When: Sunday, March 3 at 12:30 pm ET
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Analysis: NBC has decided to show the defending champion Washington Capitals on Sunday, March 3. Washington’s played well this season, but they face one of the worst teams in NHL.
The New York Rangers only have 63 points in the Metropolitan Division, putting them 16 points behind the division-leading rival Islanders. Not only that, but NYR must take on Tampa Bay and Montreal, two teams they lost to the last time they faced them, before the Sunday game against the Caps.
Washington is 17-12-2-0 on the road. The Caps are 3-1 SU in their last 4 heading into the week. They battle Ottawa at home and travel to NYI before the Sunday matchup with the Rangers. Washington should lose to the Islanders and beat the Rangers.
Pick: Washington Capitals
