Why the Washington Capitals Will Win
After rushing out to a 3 to 1 lead over the New York Rangers, the Capitals have managed to lose 2 games in a row. How? The Rangers are playing with more fire to start the match. The Rangers outscored Washington 2 to 0 in the first period of Game 6. Washington made a furious rally which ended up falling short since New York countered the Capitals’ 2 goals in the third period with 2 goals of their own for a 4 to 3 victory.

Maybe, that’s why Alex Ovechkin is guaranteeing a Game 7 win. He wants to fire up his teammates before they hit the ice on Wednesday night. If Ovechkin takes his own advice, he could turn himself into a fortune teller. But, he has to take his own advice. The brilliant Ovechkin hasn’t scored a goal or garnered an assist in 4 straight games. He has to play well in Game 7 or Washington won’t beat the Rangers. It’s time for Ovechkin to back up his words with a goal or 2.
Why the New York Rangers Will Win
The Rangers have fought brilliantly just to get back into the series. Most teams would have folded, but not the Rangers. New York is sitting on the doorstep of the Eastern Conference Finals because they’ve displayed heart and determination. A lot of it has to do with Rick Nash. Nash has outplayed Ovechkin in the last 2 games. If he’s as effective, not just as a player, but also as a leader, in Game 7 as he was in Game 6, the Rangers should win.

New York also has a big advantage in that they get Washington on their home ice for this Game 7. The Rangers are good home or away. Playing in front of their home fans should help goalie Henrik Lundqvist, though, who played 60 minutes in Game 6. Lundqvist has to be at the top of his game. A fired up home crowd might help him do that.
