The NHL is taking an extended Christmas break from this Wednesday all the way to Friday. Action picks up on Saturday, December 26th. Luckily, there are enough games going on this weekend for me to find at least 3 games that could yield profits. The first game pits Detroit against Nashville in an interesting battle between two likely Western Conference Playoff teams. The second game pits Los Angeles against Arizona while the third game has underdog Toronto traveling to New York to take on the Islanders.

A Closer Look At My Christmas Week NHL Best Bets
Detroit at Nashville
When: Saturday, Dec. 26
Detroit beat Nashville 5 to 4 the last time that these 2 teams hit the ice. That was on Dec. 5. The game went into overtime. Detroit hasn’t been sharp going into the week with 3 losses out of their last 4 games. Nashville has lost 3 out of their last 4 games as well going into the week. The difference in this from the last time that these 2 teams faced off against each other is that Nashville gets to host Detroit on Dec. 26. The Predators are 10-4-2 at home so far this season.
Los Angeles at Arizona
When: Saturday, Dec. 26
Arizona is 3 and 7 to start the week. The Coyotes have fallen to fourth place in the Pacific Division Standings with a 15-15-2 record. Arizona beat the Kings 3 to 2 the last time that they faced Los Angeles. That game took place in L.A. on Nov. 10. The Pacific Division leading Kings have the top defense in hockey. The Kings allow only 2.2 goals per game on average. The Coyotes allow 3.2 goals per game. Go with the Kings to exact revenge over their desert rivals on the day after Christmas.
Pick: Los Angeles
Toronto at New York Islanders
When: Sunday, Dec. 27
Toronto is 11-13-3-4 to start the week. The Maple Leafs is in last place in the Atlantic Division. But, the Leafs have won 3 out of their last 5 games to start the week. No victory was more stunning than taking down the very good Los Angeles Kings 5 to 0 on Dec. 19. The Islanders have lost 3 in a row to start the week. This includes losing 1 to 5 to Florida on Dec. 15, 1 to 2 to Colorado on Dec. 17 and 0 to 1 to Arizona on Dec. 19. The Islanders were favored in all 3 games including being favored by -163 over Florida and -157 over Arizona. Hockey handicappers have to take a shot on Toronto in this. The odds should be too good to pass up.
