NHL Expert Picks April 2-8

It’s April. That means the NHL is really kicking it up a notch. My NHL expert picks for April 1 through April 8 starts on Thursday, April 5 when Nashville heads to Washington. Can one of the top teams from the Western Conference, Nashville, take down one of the best from the East?

I also like a game on Friday, April 6. What’s going to happen when Tampa Bay hosts Buffalo?

The final game on my NHL expert picks is on Saturday. The Philadelphia Flyers battle the NY Rangers. Can the Rangers upset the Flyers on the road?

NHL Expert Picks April 2-8

Nashville at Washington
When:  Thursday, April 5 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, DC
TV: NBCSN

Analysis: Nashville heads to DC to take on the Washington Capitals. The Predators are about 15 games above .500 in road matches this year. Nashville has a tough week. They’re at Tampa on April 1. On April 3, they battle Florida.

Still, the Predators are gearing up for another run to the Stanley Cup Finals. It’s difficult for me to think that Nashville won’t manage to beat the Capitals, a team they dominated 6 to 3 last November, on Thursday.

I’m going with the Nashville Predators.

Pick: Nashville

Buffalo at Tampa Bay
When:  Friday, April 6 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Amalie Arena, Tampa, FL
TV: SNO

Analysis:  Tampa Bay hosts Buffalo this Friday. Tampa remains one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. They’ve got a fantastic home record. Not only that, but Tampa Bay battles the Buffalo Sabres on April 6.

Buffalo is the worst team in the Atlantic Division. They’re around 15 games below .500. They have not shot of making the playoffs. Tampa is in a dog fight with Boston for the best record in the Eastern Conference.

It’s hard to see Tampa blowing a game versus the Buffalo Sabres.

Pick: Tampa Bay

NY Rangers at Philadelphia
When:  Saturday, April 7 at 6:00 pm ET
Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA
TV: NBC

Analysis: The Philadelphia Flyers definitely have the upper hand on Saturday. The Flyers have a decent home record. Not only that, but the Rangers are one of the worst teams in the Metropolitan Division.

With that being written, the Rangers only lost 3 to 4 the last time these two teams battled. That tells me that NYR can be competitive versus Philly. The Rangers should offer excellent odds on the moneyline.

I’m siding with NYR in this matchup on Saturday.

Pick: NY Rangers
