NHL Expert Picks March 19-25

My first expert NHL betting pick takes place this Tuesday, March 20, when the Pittsburgh Penguins head to Brooklyn to battle the Islanders. Can the Penguins continue their second-half surge?

On Friday, Boston battles Dallas in Texas. How will Boston and Rick Nash do versus the Stars?

The final game I am picking also involves Boston when the Bruins travels to Minnesota to battle the Wild on Sunday. Will Boston take it?

NHL Expert Picks March 19th-25th, 2018

Pittsburgh at NY Islanders
When:  Tuesday, March 20 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY
TV: TSN

Betting Analysis: Pittsburgh remains about 3 games behind the Washington Capitals in the tough Metropolitan Division. The Penguins should be a force once the playoffs come around. Evgeni Malkin leads the team in points with 89. Because Malkin has been so good this season, Sidney Crosby can just play hockey.

When the pressure’s off Crosby, he’s much better than if the pressure is on Crosby. Not only that, but Pittsburgh’s offense now takes 34.4 shots per. That ranks first in NHL.

The Islanders lost 2 to 3 in overtime to the Pens in the last match between these two. We might see a similar score on Tuesday although I do feel that Pittsburgh could beat NYI by 2 goals.

NHL Expert Pick: Pittsburgh

Boston at Dallas
When:  Friday, March 23 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
TV: TSN

Betting Analysis: The Boston Bruins aren’t messing around. Since trading for Rick Nash, the Bruins have significantly closed the gap between they and the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Atlantic Division.

Boston is 1 to 2 games behind Tampa Bay. The Bruins last faced Dallas on January 15. Rick Nash didn’t play in that one. He should play in this Friday match. I think Boston trounces Dallas on March 23.

NHL Expert Pick: Boston

Boston at Minnesota
When:  Sunday, March 25 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Excel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN
TV: NBCSN

Betting Analysis: Minnesota has made a nice run to get within 10 games of Central Division leading Nashville. The Wild won’t catch Nashville. They could secure a sweet playoff position if they continue to win.

Beating Boston could be tough, though. In the last match between these two, Boston dumped Minnesota 5 to 3. The match was back in November. Minnesota wasn’t nearly as good of a hockey team then as they are now.

I’ll take Minnesota to beat Boston on Sunday.

NHL Expert Pick: Minnesota
