NHL Free Picks Dec 5-11

With a single college football game this week, you may need to look elsewhere to win a few sports bets and my NHL free picks for this week are just how you do it. Can the Bruins prove that Rask is worthy of a year-long run at the playoffs? Also, can Philadelphia play some defense to win a game and will Nashville keep that team on an upward path all year?

NHL Free Picks December 5th-11th

Colorado Avalanche (9-13-1) at Boston Bruins (14-10-1)
When:  Thursday, Dec. 8 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY

Analysis: The Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask has been a beast and all signs point to this man finally putting a consistent stand together as Boston’s man. He had 17 saves just in the third period and 35 saves total in the great win at Buffalo. This is a huge plus compared to last year when the Bruins were unable to make the playoffs. This looks like a different year!

Colorado is in last place in the Central Division standings, and since the Avalanche lost their defenseman Erik Johnson this week when he broke his leg, it is going to be some tough going against this Boston crew. The Bruins rank 3rd overall in the NHL in goals against, and this is going to be some easy hockey betting money on Boston.

NHL Free Pick: Boston

Edmonton Oilers (14-10-3) at Philadelphia Flyers (14-10-3)
When:  Thursday, Dec. 8 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Analysis: The Flyers may be coming into this contest with Edmonton feeling confident ranking number 4 in the NHL for goals per game, but they are pulling up the rear in giving up goals to the opponents. Philadelphia gives up over 3 goals a game which is not going to play well for betting NHL hockey against Edmonton.

The Oilers have Connor McDavid all greased up and ready to go against anybody as he is leading Edmonton in goals with 11 and assists with 23 so far this year. The Flyers are struggling to find a real leader to take over the offense on their team, although Wayne Simmonds would seem to be the favorite.

Both of these teams have the same record until this game where the Edmonton Oilers will be having their way with the lack of defense on Philadelphia.

NHL Free Pick: Edmonton

Dallas at Chicago
When:  Sunday, Dec. 11 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: United Center, Chicago, IL

Analysis: Two days after battling the NY Rangers at home, Chicago takes on another tough team in the Dallas Stars. The Blackhawks are ahead of the Stars in the Central Division. But, Dallas has plenty of time to make up the lost ground.

Will Dallas start making up lost ground this Sunday in a matchup on the road versus Chicago?  I doubt it. Chicago has a 10-2-1-1 home record to start the week. The Blackhawks beat Dallas 4-3 in overtime in the last match between these two.

The Stars are 4-7-4-0 in away games to start the week. It’s going to be hard for Dallas to stay close to the Blackhawks in this match.

NFL Free Pick: Chicago
