NHL Best Bets Feb 22nd-28thJosh Bailey
The Chicago Blackhawks figure prominently in 2 out of the 3 games for my NHL Best Bets for the Week article. The Blackhawks battle the Nashville Predators on Thursday, Feb. 25. On Sunday, Feb. 28, Chicago hosts the best team in the Eastern Conference this season, the Washington Capitals.
The other game that I take a look at is the feature hockey matchup on Saturday, Feb. 27, between Detroit and Colorado. Could the Red Wings beat the Colorado Avalanche on the road this Saturday? Keep reading to find out what I think!

A Closer Look At My NHL Betting Picks Feb 22nd-28th
Nashville at Chicago
When: Thursday, Feb. 25 at 8:00 pm ET
TV: NBC Sports Net
Not only have the Predators not been that great lately, the Preds are 2 and 4 in their last 6 straight up to start the week, but they also have to take on Montreal on the road and Toronto on the road before battling Chicago on the road this Thursday, Feb. 25. Nashville has to get through a lot this week before they even get a shot at the Blackhawks.
In the last game between these two, Chicago dominated Nashville 4 to 1. The Blackhawks do their best work at home. Chicago is an awesome 22-7-2-0 at home this season. Why should anything change on Saturday for either one of these teams? Nothing should, which is why Chicago has a chance at winning this game on the puck line.
Detroit at Colorado
When: Saturday, Feb. 27 at 8:00 pm ET
I jumped on Detroit last week. Why wouldn’t I? The Red Wings had won 3 in a row. Petr Mrazek was unstoppable in goal. Detroit looked to be on a big upswing. But since that time, Detroit has lost 3 in a row. All 3 losses were on the road.
Before taking on Colorado this Saturday, Detroit battles the Rangers on the road and Columbus at home. Colorado beat Detroit in an Avalanche road game 3 to 2 in a shootout the last time that these two teams faced off against each other. Colorado has been playing spirited hockey when winning 4 out of their last 5 to start the week. I like the Avalanche in this Feb. 27 matchup.
Washington at Chicago
When: Sunday, Feb. 28 at 12:30 pm ET
The Capitals have continued to be the NHL’s version of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. The Caps are a phenomenal 21-6-1-1 on the road to start the week. Washington takes on Arizona, Montreal and Minnesota at home before traveling to Chicago to battle the Blackhawks this Sunday. In the late game between these two, Washington showcased its superiority by pummeling the Blackhawks 4 to 1. Washington has a great shot of beating Chicago again. Since the Capitals are on the road this time, they might be the dogs. I’m going to try to end the week with an underdog winner in the NHL on Sunday by backing Washington.
