NHL Picks Dec 10-16

NHL Picks Dec 10-16

The 2018-19 NHL season is chugging along and I have a trio of must bet games you need to bet on.

NHL Picks Dec 10-16

Pittsburgh Penguins at Chicago Blackhawks
When: Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: United Center, Chicago, IL

Analysis: The Chicago Blackhawks host the Penguins in absolute disarray. The Blackhawks have gone 2-8 straight up heading into their Dec. 10 battle with the Winnipeg Jets. Chicago rides a 7 match losing streak into the game against Winnipeg.

Pittsburgh hasn’t been great, but they don’t head into the week as badly as Chicago does. The Pens beat Colorado 6-3 and the Islanders 6-2 before losing 1-2 in Ottawa. After their Dec. 10 game at the Islanders, they travel to Chicago.

The Pens get a rest day before they must take on the Blackhawks. Chicago’s not so lucky. The Blackhawks must play Pittsburgh on Dec. 12, a day after struggling against Winnipeg. This doesn’t set up for a Blackhawks upset.

Pittsburgh should win as a slight road favorite.

Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins

L.A. Kings at Pittsburgh Penguins
When: Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, PA

Analysis: Later in the week, the Pens take on the L.A. Kings at home. The game on Saturday versus the Kings will be Pittsburgh’s third in the week. Luckily for the Pens, the Kings have been downright pathetic this season.

Again, Pittsburgh’s not destroying their competition. They’re only 12-10-4 as of Dec. 9. But, the Penguins have been much better than the Kings, who have an 11-18-1 record. The Kings would have trouble hitting the back of the net if the goalie stood to the side and allowed them to take free shots.
Pens win.

Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins

Vegas Golden Knights at New York Rangers
When: Sunday, Dec. 16 at 12:30 pm ET
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

Analysis: So far, the Vegas magic from last season hasn’t translated to this season. The Golden Knights sit in fourth place behind Calgary, Anaheim, and San Jose. Things could be looking up for Vegas, though.

After beating Dallas 5-3 on Dec. 9, Vegas has gone 8-2 in their last 10. Things have come around for the Knights who rank ninth in goals allowed per at 2.8 and second in shots allowed per at 27.6.

Vegas should handle the Rangers on Sunday. NYR will be favored, meaning we could score on an above the moneyline play.

Pick: Vegas Golden Knights
