If you’re looking for some NHL betting value over the course of the coming week as the 2017-18 NHL regular season starts to inch closer to its stretch run portion, then you’ve come to the right place!
I’ve got a trio of NHL picks of the week that feature three legitimate Stanley Cup contenders in action with each team looking like a virtual lock to get it done!
NHL Picks Feb 19-25
Los Angeles (31-22-5) at Winnipeg (35-15-9)
When: Tue. Feb 20, 2018 7:00 PM ET
Where: Bell MTS Place, Winnipeg, MB, CA
Winnipeg has gone 6-2- over their last 10 and rides a three-game winning streak into the new week. Los Angeles has gone 6-4 over their last 10 and hits the new week coming off a solid 4-2 win over Buffalo on Saturday. While L.A. certainly isn’t playing bad hockey and they rank a phenomenal second in goals allowed (2.5 gpg), they’re not nearly as good at both ends of the ice as a Jets team that ranks third in scoring (3.3 gpg) and fifth in goals allowed (2.6 gpg). Winnipeg has gone a stupendous 23-5-2 at home this year and will get another big win in this one as they start making preparations for what looks like an extended postseason run this year!
Pick: Winnipeg 3 L.A. 2
Calgary (30-21-8) at Vegas (39-15-4)
When: Wed. Feb 21, 2018 7:30 PM ET
Where: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV
Calgary has posted a respectable 5-5 mark over their last 10 games, but they got smacked around by Florida in their 6-3 loss on Saturday and now, I don’t see any way they beat a Vegas team that has the best record in all of hockey! The expansion Golden Knights have gone 7-3 over their last 10 and they hit the new week riding a three-game winning streak that includes an emphatic 6-3 beatdown over Montreal on Saturday. Vegas ranks a stellar second in scoring (3.4 gpg) and impressive ninth in goals allowed (2.7 gpg) and has the look of a team that is going to be a serious challenger to win the Western Conference despite this being their inaugural season. Vegas rolls in this one!
Pick: Vegas 5 Calgary 2
Pittsburgh (35-22-4) at Carolina (27-23-10)
When: Fri. Feb 23, 2018 7:30 PM ET
Where: PNC Arena, Raleigh, NC
Oh, those pesky, two-time defending champion Penguins are at it again! After floundering for the vast majority of the first half of the season, Evgeni Malkin and the Pens are playing outstanding hockey, having gone 8-1- over their last 10 games including their 5-3 win over Toronto on Saturday. Carolina has gone a modest 4-4-2 over their last 10, but the Hurricanes were on the wrong end of a humbling 3-0 loss against the Rangers on Friday night and just don’t have the firepower – or defense – to either keep up with Pittsburgh or stop the Pens at the other end of the ice. Sidney Crosby and company win again!
Pick: Pittsburgh 5 Carolina 2
