NHL Picks March 18-24

NHL Picks Jan 7-13

The NHL season is 3 months old and the top teams have already hit mid-season form. That means there is money to be made on a trio of NHL games this week.

NHL Picks Jan 7-13

Nashville Predators at Chicago Blackhawks
When: Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: United Center, Chicago, IL

Analysis: Nashville faces a tall order beating the Chicago Blackhawks on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Although Nashville is at the top of the Central Division along with Winnipeg, a couple of things could stand in their way of winning.

First, the Predators are only 10-8-2 on the road. They’re barely above .500 in road games. Second, the Preds must battle Toronto, one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, on Jan. 7 before tackling the Blackhawks on Wednesday.

Finally, in the last matchup between these two on Dec. 18, Chicago beat Nashville 2-1. Chicago’s worth backing. They might even offer above even money odds.

Pick: Chicago Blackhawks

Winnipeg Jets at Minnesota Wild
When: Thursday, Jan. 10 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN

Analysis: Central Division-leading Winnipeg heads to St. Paul to battle the Wild on Thursday, Jan. 10. The Jets haven’t played their best hockey in their last few games. Winnipeg has gone 2-3 in their last 5.

The last time they took on Minnesota, it didn’t turn out that well. In a game on Dec. 29, Minnesota beat the Jets 3-1. The Wild have since played decent hockey, beating Ottawa and Toronto on the road and losing to Pittsburgh at home.

Wild take this.

Pick: Minnesota Wild

Columbus Blue Jackets at Washington Capitals
When: Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C.

Analysis: Washington hosts the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday in a major Eastern Conference clash. The defending champion Capitals are hanging on to first place in the Metropolitan Division by a thread.

Washington beat Detroit in their last, but by the time they battle the Blue Jackets they will have taken on Philadelphia at home and the Boston Bruins on the road. Washington beat Columbus 4-0 in the last match between these two, though.

The Capitals should make it two straight over the Blue Jackets this Saturday.

Pick: Washington Capitals
