NHL Picks Nov 12-18

NHL Picks Nov 12-18

Winter is coming and that means hockey is hitting mid-season form. I have a trio of winning NHL picks for the week of November 11th to 18th. Happy hunting.

NHL Picks Nov 12-18

Tampa Bay Lightning at Pittsburgh Penguins
When: Thursday, Nov. 15 at 4:30 pm ET
Where: PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, PA
TV: ESPN+

Analysis: Atlantic Division-leading Tampa Bay heads to Pittsburgh to battle the Penguins in one of this week’s top NHL matchups. The Lightning last battled the Pens in 2017.

Tampa goes into this matchup hot, having won 4 of 5 before their Nov. 13 match at Buffalo. The Lightning rank first in goals per at 3.6. They rank ninth in goals allowed at 2.8.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a winning record at 7-5-1 but are only 3-4-1 at home. The Pens are at New Jersey on Tuesday, where they lost 1-5 on Nov. 5, before this match on Thursday. Pittsburgh should have a heck of a time keeping the Lightning from slamming the puck into the back of the net.
Tampa Bay’s the play.

Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning

L.A. Kings at Nashville Predators
When: Saturday, Nov.17 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, TN
TV: ESPN+

Analysis: At 5-10-1, the L.A. Kings are one of the worst teams in NHL right now. The Kings enter the week off 2 straight losses: 1-3 and 0-1. By the time they battle the Predators on Saturday, they will have played Toronto at home and the Chicago Blackhawks on the road.

Things aren’t looking good for the Kings in this match. Nashville’s one of the top squads in the league. This could be a match where we give up the puck and a half on the Predators.

The Kings have a small shot of keeping this within a goal.

Pick: Nashville Predators

Colorado Avalanche at Anaheim Ducks
When: Sunday, Nov. 18 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Honda Center, Anaheim, CA
TV: ESPN+

Analysis: The Colorado Avalanche maintain a winning record even though they’ve lost 5 straight heading into their Nov. 11 match with Edmonton. The Avalanche have careened down the hill after starting the season hot.

The careening could end on Sunday versus the Anaheim Ducks, though. The Ducks aren’t that much better than Colorado. Anaheim’s gone 4-3-1 at home. Like Colorado, the Ducks have been ice cold heading into this week.

The Avalanche should offer decent underdog odds. I’ll take the price in this matchup.

Pick: Colorado Avalanche
