NHL Picks Oct 22-28

Tampa Bay Lightning at Vegas Golden Knights
When: Friday, Oct. 26 at 6:00 pm ET
Where: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV

Analysis: We could make some decent dollars in Lightning at Knights on Friday. Hard to see oddsmakers making the Golden Knights dogs in their home arena on the Vegas Strip. Even if they do make Tampa the favorites, Lightning won’t be favored by much.

Tampa ranks in the Top 10 in both goals for and goals allowed. They’ve also killed 100% of penalties this season. That makes the Lightning one of the top teams in NHL, so far.

Vegas averages only 2.1 goals per while allowing 2.6. They’ll have trouble keeping up with a Lightning squad that can turn it on whenever they feel like it.

Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning

Winnipeg Jets at Toronto Maple Leafs
When: Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, ON, CA

Analysis: Can’t wait for this matchup between one of the top teams in the East and one of the top teams in the West. Toronto’s lived up to the hype by taking a lead in the Atlantic Division. Toronto ranks 2nd in NHL with 3.8 goals per.

But, the Leafs rank 21st in goals against. Toronto allows 3.3 goals. Winnipeg ranks in the Top 10 in goals allowed, 2.5, and penalty kills 83.3. The Jets average 3 goals per.

Winnipeg can keep up with Toronto while Leafs won’t stop Jets from reaching their goal average. Jets are the bet.

Pick: Winnipeg Jets

Dallas Stars at Detroit Red Wings
When: Sunday, Oct. 28 at 5:00 pm ET
Where: Little Caesar’s Arena, Detroit, MI

Analysis: Dallas ranks in the Top 5 in shots, power play percentage, and faceoff percentage. The Stars only average 2.7 goals per, though. Dallas allows 3 goals per.

Although Stars have trouble stopping scorers, they could step it up on the road against Detroit because the Red Wings can’t stop anybody from scoring. Opponents average 4.4 goals per match versus Detroit.

Unless the Red Wings magically discover how to stop teams from scoring, they should lose this by at least 2 goals.

Pick: Dallas Stars
