With a handful of games left in the 2019 NHL regular season here are three games you need to mark on your calendar this week.
Top NHL Games April 1-7
St. Louis Blues at Chicago Blackhawks
When: Wednesday, April 3 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: United Center, Chicago, IL
Analysis: The St. Louis Blues have been on a tear in the last couple of weeks. St. Louis has won 5 of 6 on the moneyline heading into the week. They face Colorado, a team they beat 3-0, on April 1 before this Wednesday matchup with the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Blues lost 0-1 to the Blackhawks in the last head-to-head. They shouldn’t lose on April 3. St. Louis is 20-12-5-1 in away games. They’ll jump all over Chicago and should beat their opponent by at least 2 goals. However, because this is an away game for St. Louis, backing them on the moneyline makes sense.
Pick: St. Louis Blues
Montreal Canadiens at Washington Capitals
When: Thursday, April 4 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C.
Analysis: Montreal travels to D.C. to battle the Capitals on Thursday, April 4. Montreal has gone 5-2 on the moneyline in their last 7 to start the week. They must take on the Tampa Bay Lightning, easily the best team in NHL this season, on April 2 before this match with the Caps.
Tampa might beat Montreal so badly, the Canadiens won’t have anything in the tank to battle Washington. The Capitals are a very good 23-10-5-1 at home this season. Although Washington should win, they only beat Montreal 5-4 in the last matchup. Be careful about backing the Caps on the puck line.
Pick: Washington Capitals
Tampa Bay Lightning at Boston Bruins
When: Saturday, April 6 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: TD Garden, Boston, MA
Analysis: The two best teams in the Atlantic Division square off on Saturday afternoon in what’s surely to be the most talked about hockey game of the day. Tampa Bay continues to dominate the league. They’re 8-2 straight up in their last 10 games.
They beat Boston 5-4 in the last head-to-head. This time, the Lightning might have to really dig deep for the victory. The Lightning are at Ottawa, at Montreal, and at Toronto before the massive throw down with the Bruins.
Because of Tampa’s tough schedule this week, the Bruins have the edge. Boston wins.
Pick: Boston Bruins
