This should be an interesting game given how close both these teams are and their similar records, this will be the third time that they meet one another this season with the Capitals winning the first two games. Columbus needs to get out ahead in this one in order to play more from the defensive side, they have had good looks but need to convert on the rebounds close to the net, penalties have also been their down fall as they have been scored on every time a player has been off the ice.
Washington has really set themselves up this season with great offense; they seem to have found a few different line changes that allow a sleeper center player to really go unnoticed until the puck is on his stick ready to shoot. The ability to surprise their opponent and keep the defense moving gives them the ability at close rebounds or even misdirection. Defensively they need to box out more while allowing the middle ice to free up for better visibility.
The Blue Jackets have actually played better defense but lack that go to scorer when they need a boost; they need some momentum for this game, something I’m sure they expect from their home crowd. This is a very conservative team that plays more of a 1-2-2 with their starters on the ice, pulling a defense-man up past the blue line might help them with a little added pressure as well as some options to set up different plays. I like Columbus on their home ice to come back and get their first win over Washing ton in this game, I see this one 3-1 in the end.
