2017 Stanley Cup Odds & Picks

Who Will Win the 2016 Stanley Cup?

The 2015-2016 NHL Season is almost here. Opening day is Oct. 7. Will the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks find a way to win yet another Stanley Cup?

Will the power house L.A. Kings return to glory?  What about the Tampa Bay Lightning?  The team that surprised everybody by winning the Eastern Conference in 2015 has a ton of experience going into 2016. Is this the year that the Rangers finally hold up the Cup? Will Anaheim steal the glory from SoCal rival Los Angeles?

Top 5 Odds On Favorites To Win The Stanley Cup

Chicago Blackhawks +750 – The Blackhawks have a huge distraction with Patrick Kane’s possible trial coming up next year. They’re still going through the discovery process and the prosecutor on the case left. Even if it’s proven that Kane didn’t do anything wrong, it’s just too tough to win back-to-back Stanley Cups.

Tampa Bay Lightning +900 – They sure looked like winners early on versus the Blackhawks in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup final round, didn’t they?  A lot of the Lightning’s success will depend on goalie Ben Bishop. He got hurt in the Stanley Cup last season. If he’s healthy, the Lightning might be the play later on in the season. Taking +900 on this team at this point is difficult to do. We’re not really sure if last season was a true showing of this team’s abilities.

Los Angeles Kings +900 – Anze Kopitar is considered one of the best if not the best two-way centers in the NHL. Kopitar is back. So is Drew Doughty, one of the top defensemen in all of the NHL. Doughty’s age, he’s only 25, makes him a serious force for the Kings. With Jonathan Quick in goal, this team has the ability to make another Stanley Cup run. The Kings are definitely the pick before the season starts.

New York Rangers +1000 – The Rangers definitely have the experience to get to the Stanley Cup and win it. But, Henrik Lundqvist, one of the best goalies of all time, is getting up there in age. He allowed 6 goals to Tampa Bay twice in the conference semi-finals. He also allowed 2 goals in the final 2 games versus the Lightning in the semis, which proved to be the difference for the Eastern Conference trophy.

Anaheim Ducks +1100 – Both Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kessler are very good centers. The real reason to like Anahiem going into the season is that the Ducks have four great defensemen all in their early-twenties:  Hampus Lindholm, Simon Despres, Cam Fowler and Sami Vatanen. Backing the Ducks at the odds isn’t the worst stab in the world.
