College Basketball Must Bet Games Jan 21-27

#6 Michigan State at #23 Iowa
When: Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Carver-Hawkeyes Arena, Iowa City, IA
TV: FS1

Analysis: Thursday’s top matchup has two ranked teams from the Big Ten throwing down when Michigan State battles the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Spartans of Michigan State have run out to a 16-2 record.

More impressively, MSU has gone 14-4 ATS overall this season. Michigan State is an awesome 7-2 against the spread in road games this season. The last time they battled Iowa was on Dec. 3. MSU dominated, beating the Hawkeyes 90-68.

Although Iowa gets home court advantage in this, they’ll need more than that to beat the Michigan State Spartans. The Spartans take it by around 10 points.

Pick: Michigan State

Iowa State at #18 Ole Miss
When: Saturday, Jan. 26 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: The Pavilion at Ole Miss, Oxford, MS
TV: ESPN
Stream: Watch ESPN

Analysis: The most surprising team this season in college basketball might be the Ole Miss Rebels. Mississippi has a 14-3 record. The Rebels are a great 15-2 against the spread overall. In home games, Ole Miss has only failed against the spread a single time.

The Rebels battle a team in Iowa State that’s won two in a row after a couple of losses. The Cyclones finally look like they’ve got their sneakers underneath them. Iowa State is only 2-2 in road games this season.

They have gone 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games, though. That makes them the play against the spread.

Pick: Iowa State

#7 Kansas at #12 Kentucky
When: Saturday, Jan. 26 at 6:00 pm ET
Where: Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY
TV: ESPN

Analysis: It’s a classic matchup on Saturday, Jan. 26 when the Kansas Jayhawks battle the Kentucky Wildcats. Both teams are living up to expectations this season. Kansas is 15-3 while the Wildcats are 14-3.

Kentucky has gone 8-9 ATS overall. They’re only 4-6 ATS at home. That’s not a good enough ATS record because the Wildcats figure to be favored here.

Kansas has gone 1-3 in away games. Still, the Jayhawks are almost always favored while odds makers must make them dogs in this. KU gets the job done with a straight up win over the Kentucky Wildcats.

Pick: Kansas Jayhawks

San Antonio Spurs at Philadelphia 76ers
When: Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA
TV: ESPN
Stream: Watch ESPN

Analysis: The San Antonio Spurs head to Philadelphia to battle one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The 76ers have gone 7-3 straight up in their last 10.

Philadelphia’s only 13-11 ATS at home though. When it comes to covering in their last few games, Philly’s been terrible. The 76ers are 2-4 against the spread in their last 6. Their opponent on Wednesday might make them pay for their bad ATS form.

San Antonio dominated Philadelphia 123-96 the last time they faced them. The Spurs are 11-11-1 ATS on the road. They’ve gone a very good 7-3 ATS in their last 10. No way the Spurs aren’t dogs in this. Taking the points.

Pick: San Antonio Spurs

Toronto Raptors at Houston Rockets
When: Friday, Jan. 25 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Toyota Center, Houston, TX
TV: ESPN

Analysis: The second biggest matchup of the week takes place this Friday on January 25 when scorching James Harden and the Houston Rockets host Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors.

Harden has been unreal, scoring 57, 58, and 48 points in the Rockets’ last 3 games. But although The Beard has been fantastic, the Rockets are 0-2 against the spread in their last 2. They’ve gone 1-3 ATS in their last 4.

Toronto’s gone 1-3 ATS n their last 4 as well. The difference in this game is that the Raptors figure to get at least 2.5 to 3 points instead of being favored. Toronto’s most definitely the play because they’ve got the better overall team.

Pick: Toronto Ratpors

Golden State Warriors at Boston Celtics
When: Saturday, Jan. 26 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: TD Garden, Boston, MA
TV: ABC

Analysis: The best game of the week takes place on Saturday in prime time when the Golden State Warriors head to Boston to battle the Celtics.

The Warriors are again the top team in the Western Conference. Golden State’s won 9-of-10. Their only loss was to the Houston Rockets 135-134 in overtime on Jan. 3. The Warriors are a decent 10-12 against the spread in away games.

Boston is 15-7 ATS at home. Even though they’ve only gone 2-4 ATS in their last 6, they should play well enough to cover on Saturday. The Celtics all the way.

Pick: Boston Celtics

NHL Must Bet Games Jan 21-23

San Jose Sharks at Washington Capitals
When: Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C.
TV: ESPN+

Analysis: San Jose must travel to Washington to take on the Capitals a day after battling the Florida Panthers on the road. The Sharks are 11-11-2-1 in road games this season. The Sharks are 0-2 in their last couple of matches before the Florida game.

The Capitals are on a horrible losing streak, though. They’ve gone 0-5 in their last 5. 3 of the losses were on the road to Columbus, St. Louis, and the New York Islanders. The question in this match is whether the Capitals bounce back, or if they head into the All-Star Break playing their worst hockey of the season.

Washington should bounce back. They’re too good of a hockey team to make it 6 losses in a row with 4 of those losses being on their own ice.

Pick: Washington Capitals

Washington Capitals at Toronto Maple Leafs
When: Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, ON, CA
TV: NBCSN

Analysis: After battling the Sharks, the Caps close out the first half of the season in a battle on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The defending Stanley Cup champs could be in for a tough battle on Jan. 23.

Toronto is 13-10-1 at home. The Maple Leafs are 1-3 in their last 4, but they beat the Capitals 4-2 the last time they faced them. The main thing about that match is that it happened way back in October.

Washington’s got a great shot of making it two in a row right before the All-Star Break.

Pick: Washington Capitals

Nashville Predators at Vegas Golden Knights
When: Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 10:00 pm ET
Where: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV
TV: NBCSN
Stream: NBC Sports Live

Analysis: The Nashville Predators hope to beat the Vegas Golden Knights right before the break as a dog on Wednesday. The Preds are 1-4 in their last 5.

Because of the awful record, it’s hard to back Nashville even though they’ll offer decent odds. Vegas is 16-4-2 at T-Mobile Arena and have gone 8-2 in their last 10. The Golden Knights should enter the All-Star Break two goals winners on Wednesday night. So, if you don’t want to swallow the short odds, back Vegas on the puck line.

Pick: Vegas Golden Knights
