Odds & Picks World Cup Quarterfinal Round

Welcome the 2018 World Cup Quarterfinals. Only eight squads remain. England, Sweden, Croatia, Russia, Belguim, Brazil, France, and Uruguay. Let’s find out which four teams have the best odds of making it to the World Cup semis.

2018 World Cup Quarterfinal Round Odds & Picks

July 6th

Uruguay +370
France +102
Draw +221
Total 2 Over +102/Under -117

Analysis: Uruguay was awesome when beating Portugal 2 to 1 in the Round of 16. The Uruguayans benefited from the excellent play of Edison Cavani. Cavani has become as dangerous of a striker for Uruguay as the more popular Luis Suarez.

Cavani had an issue on the pitch in Uruguay’s victory. Luckily, it wasn’t a muscle tear. He should be 100% in this battle versus France. That leads me to believe that Uruguay is the choice. France allowed Argentina to score 3 goals in their Round of 16 win. That won’t work against Uruguay.

Pick: Uruguay

Brazil +112
Belgium +279
Draw +253
Total 2½ Over Even/Under -115

Belgium needed to score 3 goals in roughly the final 20 minutes of their match versus Japan to advance to the quarterfinals. Belgium is better than what they showed against Japan, right?

Maybe, not.  Outside of a lackluster victory over the English in the Group Stage, Belgium had played weak teams. We don’t know how good Belgium is. We do now how good Brazil is. The Brazilian’s rock the Belgians.

Pick: Brazil

July 7th

Russia +290
Croatia +126
Draw +212
Total 2 Over +102/Under -117

Croatia has been one of the most impressive teams in this year’s World Cup. The Croatian’s easily handled their competition in the Group Stage. It wasn’t as easy for Croatia to beat Denmark, though. They needed penalty kicks.

Russia appears to have all the luck on their side. A closer look at their penalty kick victory over Spain, though, reveals that Russia played the Spanish tough. The Russians could easily beat the Croatians in this.
I’m taking the better odds on the host team to prevail.

Pick: Russia

Sweden +346
England -133
Draw +208
Total 2 Over -111/Under -104

England had the win over Columbia wrapped up in regulation. They took a corner kick off and that got the Columbians even. Still, England pulled off the win via penalty kicks.

Sweden beat Switzerland 1 to 0 on the square. England is a much faster team on attack than Switzerland is. Also, Sweden’s group has turned out to be less than stellar. Germany didn’t advance while Brazil knocked out Mexico.

Pick: England
