Bantamweight Championship – Renan Barão vs. T.J. Dillashaw

Nobody knows just what to make of this main event aside from assuming that it’s going to be an all out slaughter. Barão is virtually undefeated and coming off a recent annihilation of Urijah Faber, whom he dispatched in just over three minutes at UFC 169 via TKO. It would be bonkers to suggest betting against the champ in UFC 173 Barao vs Dillashaw free picks after seeing what he did to a division stalwart like Faber.

Dillashaw isn’t even supposed to be the contender in this title fight. That honor rightfully belongs to Dominik Cruz who is still recovering from a torn groin. Dillashaw was supposed to be on the undercard but was quickly promoted to give Barão another lamb. The challenger is 9-2 SU in his young career and suddenly finds himself receiving an opportunity he might not truly deserve.

If anything Barão will find himself as a massive favorite in this bout so the likely take will be Dillashaw as a puncher’s chance flier bet since it’ll be difficult to make money off of Barão’s immense odds.

Dan Henderson vs. Daniel Cormier

If you follow this sport at all the you’re well aware that Dan Henderson is the biggest freak of nature walking the planet. The 43 year old will walk in to his 42nd fight against Cormier in an effort to try and prove he isn’t finished just yet. It was hard to argue Henderson’s value overall after Machida, Evans and Belfort all beat him…then Henderson went out and knocked Shogun Rua in to another dimension.

Henderson feels like nothing more than a gate keeper at this point, but part of me is still absolutely rooting for him. He’s 43 years old! How can you not be cheering for grandpa in UFC 173 Bara~o vs Dillashaw Free Picks?!

Well you might not want to because of the whole testosterone replacement therapy thing circulating around Henderson’s camp. Those problems seems to be well behind the former champion as he prepares for a likely contender in the UFC’s ranks.

“Now that this whole TRT thing is over, Dan Henderson needed to get back in Nevada and take a test…His levels came in perfect, and we were able to get it done.” (Dana White via ESPN)

One of the reasons is that he’s fighting Daniel Cormier, a 35 year old newcomer to the sport who is an astounding 14-0 SU after wins against Roy Nelson, Frank Mir and Josh Barnett. The UFC has been dying to see what Cormier is truly capable of and don’t have long to capitalize on the light heavyweight’s potential. A big time win is necessary to really push Cormier, which is exactly why we’re seeing him against Hendo in UFC 173 Bara~o vs Dillashaw free picks.

Cormier should be a decisive favorite in this fight, but you can never ever count out Henderson. Whether you’re going to be willing to bet on the underdog in this fight depends on the number so we’ll keep you posted.

Jake Ellenberger vs. Robbie Lawler

This might as well be a number-one contenders match for Johny Hendricks’ welterweight championship. Lawler is coming off a loss against the current champ, who is currently taking on bigger threats. I have never been that stoked about Lawler in general, and I’m just as tepid about Jake Ellenberger. It’s hard to get that excited about either since both are coming off of losses.

Ellenberger last fought in July 2013 and gave up a decision against Rory MacDonald. He has yet done a handful of amazing things in the UFC against relatively big names, but it’s the defeats that really stand out. You can argue that a win over Jake Shields wasn’t a big deal in the first place, and that his fight against Diego Sanchez was at a bad time in the former’s career. His brutal knockout victory over Nate Marquardt was as much good fortune as it was anything else.

The recent loss to MacDonald coupled with the decimation he was handed by Martin Kampmann make Ellenberger a much less intriguing prospect against a guy like Robbie Lawler who will be looking to crawl back in to contention sooner rather than later. Ellenberger feels like nothing more than a momentum booster for Lawler, so you can safely assume where I’m going to head when I see the odds and hand out my UFC 173 Bara~o vs Dillashaw Free Picks.
