In A Class Of Their OwnTheDuck
This is the fight that I have been waiting for ever since I heard they might be fighting; Rory MacDonald from Canada brings his skill set to the cage against an experienced Demian Maia who has not fought since last October. These are two of the best in the welterweight division, the ability they have to control their opponents and in-force their will is great to watch. They both bring such different styles to the ring that it´s almost impossible to know which of the two will have the better luck.
Rory MacDonald is coming off the second loss in his UFC professional career in an emotional split decision against Robbie Lawler, I remember that fight very well and in all honesty MacDonald won that fight in my eyes, he got hit a few times but the overall control and damage was coming from Rory. I expect this 24 years old to really want to come out aggressively in this fight, I also expect him to advance every chance he has while not taking uncalculated risks when his opponent opens up. Rory is not a counter fighter; he attacks and adapts very well to life on the ground or on their feet.
Demian Maia is one of the best submission fighters in the division as well as the promotion, he is one of the few fighters that fans know when he is on his back he is just as dangerous. He currently stands with 18 wins and 5 losses since turning pro back in 2001. Maia has fought the best the UFC´s has and had to offer in the division, Jake Shields, Jon Fitch, Chris Weidman and Rick Story just to name a few. Maia has gone the distance a few times and knows what it takes; he has the experience advantage at age 36. I think that Rory takes this fight by split decision based on overall control of the fight.
